You might say certain people got triggered when certain people criticised the government. Now certain governments are getting triggered by disrespect, and therefore need a safe space.

No, people are getting triggered, because other certain people criticized the government, and they now want the government to crack down on criticism. Forget free speech, they hurt my feelings.

Didn't somebody already post this? At any rate, introducing a bill is basically meaningless. There are countless bills each year which never even come up for a vote and this will likely be one of them, particularly since I'm pretty sure they can't legally do that. It's political theater, just like that one bill which would have forced men to swear on a Bible that they're only buying Viagra to have sex with their wife.

I wouldn't say it's being offended so much as it is being thoroughly amused by how thin-skinned they are. That, and this particular avenue of protesting would allow the protestors to take away the income of those against whom they are protesting, when all they're protesting is that their handegg experience has been made slightly suboptimal.

Not really "throwing a fit," but this bill would have saved the taxpayers a little money... assuming he paid for the tickets in the first place.

"Complaining about our complaining makes you a snowflake!" is ironic, considering that SJWs previously had their whole "We don't have to tolerate your intolerance" routine.

You mean like letting people kneel when they should be doing their damn jobs? If anybody else symbolically protested on a daily basis at their job because something offended them, they'd likely be shown the door.

Why do people keep saying they arent doing their jobs? They still play the whole game, its not like theyre kneeling and then sitting on the bench and refusing to play.

And at most jobs they dont play the national anthem to begin with. I guarantee you that you wouldnt get fired at work if you were protesting in a way that didnt break company rules and didnt actually prevent you from doing your job effectively.

I live in Indiana and I fucking welcome this bill. Not because I Am offended by sports teams kneeling during the national anthem. But because I find the idea that a NFL player who gets paid millions each game and basically gets to play sports for a living somehow thinks they get to complain about "oppression."

The whole thing is asinine.

People with an audience are some of the best ones to speak up for those that otherwise wouldnt be heard. Im not sure why you think someones standing in life somehow disqualifies them from having a position on the issue. A lot of these players came from bad neighborhoods and most likely witnessed exactly what theyre protesting by kneeling.

Also, nobody in the NFL make "millions" per game. Only a small percentage of players even make a million per game. The average salary in the NFL is $1.9 million annually, which is low six figures per game, and the minimum salary in the NFL is about $30,000 per game. Still a lot more money than the average person makes, but we need to stop perpetuating this myth that every pro athlete is filthy rich.

And the average sports career is only 3-4 years, so thats about $6-$8 million total they would make, and thats just the pros. Most athletes (especially baseball players) never make it out of the minors.

Thats for the company they work for to decide when its time to negotiate a new CBA. Lawmakers shouldnt be getting involved at all, these players have broken no laws by kneeling. If the NFL wants to issue refunds to butthurt fans who allow 60 seconds of kneeling to ruin their day thats on the NFL, but the politicians need to stay out of it.

Strictly speaking, they aren't publicizing any opinions while on duty. They explain what it's about outside of the game, and on actual game days it's just a nonverbal gesture.

Is there even any requirement stating they have to stand for the anthem? If there is, you know it's just a technicality and that's not the real reason you disapprove of it. I'm sure there are lots of minor things people violate about their jobs regularly that you don't bat an eye at. They can try to make them stand but you and I both know that these guys don't earn their checks for their ability to stand during a song.

Thats just it, they arent required by the league to stand. Its encouraged but they dont have to so they arent violating any codes of conduct or anything by kneeling. If the NFL feels that theyre taking enough of a hit from a financial standpoint to actually try to make it mandatory theyll have to try when they negotiate a new deal with the players.

True. I dont personally think the NFL is taking that much of a financial hit behind the kneeling (despite what some sources would claim) so I dont even think the owners will bring it up. But if they wanted to that would be the place to do it, at the negotiating table. Its not for some attention hungry politician to waste time on.

In the Midwest, where all the poor whites who thought trump would fight for them (lolz) and actually believe that the kneeling is a protest against the military (fyi: it isn't), they are actively not watching football.

It really is a shame how rampant ignorance is in America. It's also a shame that the government (aka, our corporate overlords (see corporate oligarchy)) is using the media to dumb down society and use outright lies to further remove freedoms.
