I'm not really sure what else it could be though. Nothing else strikes me as popular enough to make a statement like "most controversial".
I guess I did miss Blue Radiance when looking through the list, but at the same time it seems like that song has a lot of haters also. The only other one I can even think of is if the Ar nosurge one is more popular than I'm giving it credit for. Maybe Blinded by Light or Seize the Truth? Haven't I heard this one before? I like these songs. These are middle of the road in therms of this ranking, making up the largest portion of the slightly-skewed distribution. I like battle themes in general, which is why the average is so high, but this could partially be because composers found a formula to making battle themes and stuck with it. The flaw of many of these songs is just that they sound the same, which, after listening to 100+ songs, is not a feature. #80 Nominator: FL81 Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest - Battle Theme  58/100 People say that the OST is the only good part of Mystic Quest, but this song, at least, wouldn't be able to carry the game. Last year my friend told me to listen to this soundtrack and I heard this song half-delirious from exhaustion at like 3 in the morning while working on a Physics lab. I'm kinda surprised with some of these rankings. VII's battle theme is one of my favorites, can't really explain why... I think it has the most to do with how well it fits the game, right down to how the intro synchs up with the way the camera pans towards the enemy at the start of each battle. ... It's got enough tension to evoke the feel of combat without ruining the atmosphere I assume the game is going for. It's a bit repetitive, but as a whole it's pretty good.
