Trying to get rid of old junk as we start getting ready to move in a few months and apparantly you cant just toss out TVs nowadays since electronics are considered hazardous waste for some reason where I live

I think I found a recycling place that might take a couple old flat screens but we have a CRT tv from way back and almost no place will take it without charging us a fee. Even if you bring it to the landfill they charge you a fee to take it. Gonna see if maybe a junkyard will take it off our hands, but I dont even know where one is so it might not be worth the gas.

Really annoying because all they are doing is making lazy people like me consider doing something scummy like dropping it off in an empty lot or tossing it into some restaurant dumpster.

Flat screen tv's and monitors contain mercury, so it's important to recycle those. You definitely don't want to dump them somewhere where they can get damaged.

Put them up for free on Craigslist even if they dont work. Usually theres someone out there who thinks they can fix the TV, or maybe theyre just a hoarder. Either way, someone will take it.

I looked into it and goodwill and even the Salvation Army wont accept CRT TVs or any flat screens older than 5 years. I guess there are just too many of them out there.

I think I found a computer recycling business that will take them off my hands, theyre clear across town but it might be my best option

Out here, our local junk yard has an eWaste trailer. Take whatever you want, toss it in the trailer. They then strip and sell what they can to pay for the recycling fees.

Sweet mailing you some TVs thanks bud

Based on their website the official policy is $25 per TV and tube TV's are limited to 32" or less for in store recycling

We have these giant trashcans that can fit a lot of crap in them. So, I could do my best to bag it and stick in on the middle of a bunch of other trash and it would be ok.

If it works there are still many who want CRTVs for light gun games (including myself). Should be able to find someone to pick it up at your place easily, and probably even get like $20 out of it as well.

If it's broken, then just..........

SMASH your TV!!!!

We did it in cages in San Fransico in the 90's, it was fun. Do it in your driveway then just sweep all the remains and toss em in the trash:)

That might not work depending on deposits and everything. He could still beg much lose money that way. And he's trying to not lose money or gain some. At least, that's what it seems like.

Put it on craigslist for free. Depending on the ohms of the yoke and neck pins some of them can be used for tube swaps in arcade games. I have a few in my garage incase I neck one or pick up something with bad burn in

I dont know if its true everywhere but here TVs are considered hazardous waste so you can get in a lot of trouble for just tossing them normally or leaving them somewhere.

We ended up driving to this small business where they do computer and electronic recycling and leaving them in their drop off zone. There were a bunch of other TVs there that other people had left
