I could see it working for a hybrid class that uses magic secondary but isn't it annoying to be a mage without magicka regeneration?

Potions are all over the place. Spell absorption isn't. The sign (as a stone) is even better in Skyrim, where it only removes 50% of magicka regen and you can easily make that up.

That's great, but Steed is where it's at... carry weight above all else.

Signs?

Make custom spell paralyze for 1 second and go to town.

Also reverse pickpocket self harming hoods into people's inventories.

Same here. Every character I've ever played, as soon as possible, gets The Steed. I've speed run blindly across the map before even going to Whiterun solely to get it as early as possible. I'm way too much of a "pick everything up, keep everything" packrat - without the extra capacity, I'll probably spend 90% of my time slow-walking (or Whirlwind Sprint shouting) my way through Skyrim.

The only time I ever even consider a different sign for any character is if/when I get the item that lets you have two active signs at once. Then, AND ONLY THEN, do I even bother thinking about anything else.

But honestly, the game is pathetically easy. For the most part you could go completely signless from beginning to end and barely notice a worthwhile difference, unless you're forcing ridiculous challenges on yourself and trying to beat way overpowered enemies while underleveled and fully munchkin min-max optimized, but I'd rather shoot myself than play that way.

I generally play ESO the same way, though. Almost ALL of my early-level income was spent on maxing out backpack space on each individual character and shared vault space ASAP.

Yeah, I can probably make up for the lack of any other sign by just gitting gud. Being able to carry more stuff is just a straight up quality of life advancement. Much more time spent adventuring and much less going back and forth to carry all that loot back to town.

That whole post is about Skyrim. Dawnguard added a quest to gather aetherium. At the end you can craft a decent shield, a decent staff, or a circlet that lets you have two standing stones. Most people choose the circlet for good reason.

I was enjoying Alice until I got stuck around 3/4 through level 3. I got mad and stopped playing.

The part I'm stuck on involves not being able to use weapons and needing to float without landing on anything sharp or getting hit by enemies. One hit or fall the wrong way and I'm dead.

in oblivion I always choose steed. in morrowind it was the tower just so I could join the morag tong early game so glad they went with a different lockpicking system oblivion and after. I don't even bother trying to start off with a higher lockpick skill in oblivion or skyrim as I can pick the hardest locks right off the bat, just might break a few more lock picks.

in skyrim I generally just go with whatever will make me level up faster in my desired area. hell even when I got that crown I just went with another sign that let me level up faster

I don't understand the point of choosing The Steed sign, when you could create fortify carry weight enchantments.

In Oblivion, I chose the Thief Sign, on my sneak thief poison archer for the extra ten levels of luck alone.

In Skyrim I start out with the Thief Stone for 20% faster leveling of stealth skills, then eventually go near Markarth for the Lady Sign's 15% faster leveling of all skills.

In terms of Morrowind, rather than lockpicking, I bought an Open spell, then created 2 more powerful open spells for (50-75 and 75-100 locks).
I guess I will need to practice lockpicking for the sake of using probes though.

I don't understand the point of choosing The Steed sign, when you could create fortify carry weight enchantments in skyrim, and fortify speed potions/ enchantments in Morrowind or Oblivion. In Morrowind, sometimes I conjure Bound Boots to increase my speed by ten. I haven't gotten the Boots of Blinding Speed yet. I don't trust my level 3 character yet, so I'm wandering around killing creatures to level her Marksman skill. Cliff Racers are fun because they take about 6 arrows apiece, sometimes 8, which levels her faster .In terms of Morrowind, rather than lockpicking, I bought an Open spell, then created 2 more powerful open spells for (50-75 and 75-100 locks).

I never really got into enchanting in oblivion. never really got into anything magical related really. wasn't until skyrim I started toying around with it. basically in oblivion though, I just didn't really give a fuck about any of the signs so I went with the one that gives me more carry weight because i'm really bad about carrying too much shit. especially since I actually roleplay, switch into clothing in towns, and not always the same outfit, as who the fuck really wears the same thing all the time. almost always have multiple weapons, usually have at a minimum of 2 of whatever my main weapon type is, then at least one secondary weapon like say a bow if my main is a sword. most of my carry weight came from hording potions though. I remember doing the math in skyrim once and finding about 90 lbs of my carry weight was potions alone.

Potions in Skyrim weigh a half pound each.
How are you wandering around with 180 potions?

What potions were you carrying?

For Giants, Frost Trolls and anything else susceptible to paralysis you will need to mix up:
Imp Stool, Canis Root and Mora Tapinella because this causes Paralysis and Lingering Damage Health. Enemies fall down and lose health until they get up.

For everything else, use: Giant Lichen, Deathbell and Skeever Tail, for Lingering Damage Health, Weakness to Poison and Poison Damage. It even works on dragons and mammoths.

If you wield a bow and you're not sure if an enemy will take poison damage, mix up Juniper Berries and Canis Root for a potion of Fortify Archery.

Everything renews with Hearthfire except for the skeever tails.

Other than that all you need at bare minimum are maybe restore health, stamina, and magicka potions, unless you're feeling fancy.

I know at least 25 lbs of that was blood potions as I was a vampire but hated going out of my way to feed on people. probably another 25 in regular health potions than the rest misc. potions I intended to sell but kept forgetting.

I actually never got into alchemy until I made a orc character (specifically for making poisons to put on my weapon)

I eventually learned to to put the majority of them in a chest in my house and only keep a handful of them actually in my inventory.

long story short I had a bad habit of looting any potions I saw in dungeons. either they where health potions or something I could sell as they generally fetched a decent price when you considered value to weight ratio

edit: speaking of value to weight ratio. I remember someone once made a mathematical formula to dictate if a piece of loot was worth grabbing based on that. and by that formula magic scrolls proved to be the best type of loot

I have a nephew who loots vegetables and trash, like burned books, troll skulls, brooms, rolls of paper, charcoal, and empty wine bottles.

When he goes to the bathroom, I put away his trash and use his food to make soup.
He tells me, "Good! I'm playing a video game. Do I look like I have time to cook?!"
I ask why he keeps garbage and he tells me, "He's my guy and I want to keep it. It's my stuff. It's not trash!"

He punches wolves in the face" Like a man", and has been known to walk into inns, play "We Will Rock You" by Queen on the stereo, and make his guy dance. I think he has a Khajiit now. He named him "Your Nightmare'. He bought a horse and thinks it's cool that it's called "Your Nightmare's Horse".

He created an Argonian named M-77 once, because he wanted to watch him swim. He swam for 5 minutes, told me he was over it, then created a new character. When I asked why he told me, "Because I can."

Dragons are afraid of him, because he fights them "Like a boss!". He jumps up and down yelling "In your face" at them as he swings his sword.

He tells me my job is to be 'The Potion Girl". I make them with him, and we make sure he has enough of each kind before he wanders around Skyrim, usually aimlessly.

He likes wondering near Whiterun, because he tells me "I like Whiterun. I know where I am, so I don't get too lost."
He also likes exploring new locations near Falkreath by his new home.

weird. but i'm all down for roleplaying a character how you want. i've done the punching thing before though, not because "i'm a man" mentality. was roleplaying a character who got drunk and liked to fight things with his fists. I learned dragons are actually easier to kill this way than bears.takes longer but bears are much more dangerous up close and personal due to how fast they throw out attacks where as dragons are a bit easier to dodge the attacks of.

that character was made for comedy though, he was named Jagar the Bold and he fought things often with his fists and nothing but his loin cloth and a pair of boots on.

oh lord. my step sister was better than that around that age. she was actually the first of her siblings to beat skyrim which I thought was great, because my mom was initially against the idea of her playing the game because she got tired of them arguing over video games because she had before then always ended up having to ask her older sisters for help and they'd get mad about it after awhile. I actually think the older two still haven't beaten the main quest line in skyrim. and the youngest I know has by far the highest leveled character. hell her character is higher leveled than mine, but thats because I generally run many characters and she sticks to one.

the middle step sister of mine just spends most of her time picking plants and making potions. shes a big sims fan and it almost shows in how she plays elder scrolls games. I forget what the eldest did, don't care to know she was a odd one. before she moved out she refused to let the other two get the dlc because she hated vampire lords, and to quote her when I told her she didn't have to do the quest lineand thus would never have to see one "I don't want them even existing". the youngest just loves to explore mostly but she does quests because she wants to level up. shes still trying to get to level 80 so she can fight whichever type of dragon it is that starts showing up around that level.

Resto Loop a ring and necklace of Fortify Carry Weight. Don't go crazy, just do about 100 points per item.

If you get high enough (I think it's either 40 or 50) in Pickpocket, get the extra pockets perk, for an additional 100 carry weight capacity.

yeah it sucks for me in fallout games because other than carry weight I don't have much use for the strength stat. if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't even bother with a companion.

I wish the game didn't mark items as stolen when they're pickpocketed from enemy characters.

yeah it sucks for me in fallout games because other than carry weight I don't have much use for the strength stat. if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't even bother with a companion.

Yeah, playing Fallout 4 on Survival, I need every bit of carrying capacity I can get.

only time I went with leveling up pickpocket. what I did to start out with is go to a trainer, pay them, then pickpocket the money back lol. did that until it became such an amount of money it was impossible. later I found out if you paralyze them you can pickpocket anything with 100% success though even if it says 0%

think freezing them with that one shout works the same but hard to be stealthy doing that. it took some practice though as the window of opportunity I believe was short on when this 100% chance actually worked.

but it always made me laugh to steal back what I payed them to teach me. "i'm just practicing what you taught me" is what i'd think

never gotten into survival mode. some games I do play for the challenge, ES and FO games aren't among those. I play those solely for roleplaying

don't play morrowind. IIRC mana didn't regen. I never would play a mage due to it.

ah PC player. oh and yeah there was a cheat code for consoles to make one of the 3 bars constantly regen. but you could only have one at a time. I miss morrowind lol, despite not having shit like console commands you could still cheat and make a godly character through a glitch in spell making/enchanting

That's actually why the Atronach sign is probably the best one in Morrowind. If you Restore Attributes at a shrine, it counts as magic. If you absorb that magic (there's a 50% chance with the sign alone), it restores your Magicka. The downside is that the shrine's blessing won't work in that instance, but with a 50% chance, it's not too bad.

A nifty trick is to use Mark, then Divine Intervention, then Restore Attributes (at the shrine), then Recall back to where you left the Mark.

You can also attack your own summons to turn them against you and absorb their magic to restore your Magicka that way.

Morrowind

Yeah it's crazy broken in Morrowind. You can summon and fight your ancestor ghost, who only attacks with magic, and just sit there and let your mana fill up at any time.

I have a playthrough going right now (Telvanni with Rise of House Telvanni, Uvirith's Legacy and Building Up Uvirith's Legacy).

I'm about to install the STEP Guide mods (http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Morrowind) and do another playthrough, probably as a Hlaalu thief type this time. Are there any good Hlaalu mods similar to the above Telvanni ones (i.e. to add quest(line)s and a house/base to upgrade)?

Honestly we found my husband's original Xbox while cleaning out the garage so he got me Morrowind's GOTY edition as an early Christmas present.
Our Xbox broke a few months ago so we got one from Gamestop for $ 50.
I don't play on the computer or how to mod games.
I've been playing very slowly and tentatively. I'm currently working on killing creatures in the wild to improve marksman skills.
Until she improves, I don't want to explore caves etc too much yet.
