Do you honestly believe this 12 y/o picked out this shirt on Amazon and wanted to wear it the Tour?

Ugly Trump Parents, Stan and Nancy Jester from Atlanta, Georgia are OUTRAGED after their middle school student child was told to change his offensive shirt before going on a CNN TOUR that read "FNN, Fake New Network" as they were going to the CNN newsroom in Georgia!!

Jaxon Jester, a student at Peachtree Charter Middle School, the son of DeKalb County Commissioner Nancy Jester and Board of Education member, Stan Jester.

Stan posted on his blob about his son's "1st amendment rights" being violated and said "This year when the CNN Tour was announced, my 7th grade son Jaxon asked me if he could purchase an FNN- Fake News Network shirt to wear for his field trip. As an advocate of the First Amendment, i agreed to his request. He picked out the shirt he wanted and ordered it from Amazon. His mother cautioned him that he might cause controversy and needed to prepare for that. He was fully aware of the implications of his decision and made the affirmative choice to wear his shirt."

The parents got a call from the principal that he had to change his shirt before going and now he's OUTRAGED of the "hypocrisy" because they allowed a softball girl's team to take a knee before their games during the singing of the national anthem.

He said he defends free speech and expression if he disagrees or makes him uncomfortable. Ironically he called for the students to face suspension who kneeled.

The school said the request was made for him to remove in accordance of the Student Code of Conduct as they are not allowed to wear clothing, tattoos or other words showing offensive/vulgar words, pictures or diagrams or offensive in nature.

Stan is an openly conservative and staunch Trump supporter and said Jaxon deserves an apology. He makes weekly blog posts to ELIMINATE MUSLIMS in the country and says America is becoming a "p****" who needs to show people a lesson that they can't be messed with. He said the school has a consistency problem in the 1st amendment and tailor to "liberal" students..

Stan also claims that his son is a SMART 12 year old who understands ECONOMICS already and knows that CNN is a "Fake News Network". He said Jaxon made the decision as an american citizen to proudly wear that shirt as he's become very involved in Politics and will be a great future Conservative Politician.

Do you honestly believe this 12 y/o kid asked to buy and wear that shirt out of his own "free will"? let's see what people will vote

Given that picking out a shirt isn't hard and CNN is mocked heavily on social media (including with a viral WWE clip), it doesn't seem unreasonable to believe a 12 y/o picked the shirt.

Full Throttle posted...
Yes. He's a smart kid and knows his politics. It is very believable he picked out that shirt to slam CNN as Fake News

You don't need to be smart to mock CNN. They're kind of a joke. They've been lampooned on many popular comedy shows, including the Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, etc, in addition to being widely derided on social media.

lolwut? Clearly taking the knee is more offensive than a t-shirt mocking a news station since you're offending a handful of employees at a news corporation -- one which deserves some criticism for its shoddy practices -- instead of offending every American in the country.

lolwut? Mocking CNN requires brainwashing now? It was all the rage among leftists until Trump started doing it. If his parents were really first amendment advocates then they would know that the protections of free speech only apply to government restricting your free speech.

And even if it was a public school. A uniformly applied dress code on a minor to represent the school on a field trip to an outside company would certainly fall under a reasonable time place and manner restriction.

In case you missed it, public schools ARE the government. And there already HAVE been decisions regarding political-themed clothing where SCOTUS defended the rights of students to wear clothing with certain political messages. While the ruling might not extend this far -- and it might not -- the principle is well within the realm of the First Amendment.

In most situations I would err on the side of freedom of speech, but it is also not absolute.

I can also see CNN saying to the kid "no you Cannot enter the premises of our private business wearing that".

And if CNN set the restrictions on the school for the dress code of what they will and will not allow that's not even close to triggering a first amendment issue.

There's nothing to suggest that suits were a dress code for the trip and it would be weird for that to happen.

The story explicitly states that it was the school which made that decision and it pretty explicitly goes against the SCOTUS ruling.

For those who think the parents were right to let their kid wear a tee shirt trashing CNN to a CNN tour, how would you like it if some kid came in wearing a shirt that trashed your employer? I bet it wouldn't make you feel good either. Whatever happened to being considerate and respectful of others? Or maybe people don't teach that to their kids anymore?

Depends on the workplace. I've had employers where I'd probably high five the kid (when nobody was looking)

I can see a school requiring all students to dress in suits as a condition to go on a voluntary field trip.

There's nothing to suggest that suits were a dress code for the trip and it would be weird for that to happen.

I can also see CNN saying to the kid "no you Cannot enter the premises of our private business wearing that".

And if CNN set the restrictions on the school for the dress code of what they will and will not allow that's not even close to triggering a first amendment issue.

The story explicitly states that it was the school which made that decision and it pretty explicitly goes against the SCOTUS ruling.

There is no scotus ruling that lets to wear anything you want to school.

But there is a SCOTUS ruling protecting political speech on clothing.
