The parents got a call from the principal that he had to change his shirt before going and now he's OUTRAGED of the "hypocrisy" because they allowed a softball girl's team to take a knee before their games during the singing of the national anthem.

Given that picking out a shirt isn't hard and CNN is mocked heavily on social media (including with a viral WWE clip), it doesn't seem unreasonable to believe a 12 y/o picked the shirt.

You don't need to be smart to mock CNN. They're kind of a joke. They've been lampooned on many popular comedy shows, including the Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, etc, in addition to being widely derided on social media.
Do you honestly equate taking a knee with wearing an offensive shirt?
