Rehearsals are when that kind of kiss should get worked out, but as the writer/actor/celebrity guest in the room you should be real clear about what's about to go down and that your cast is with you in that moment. She probably turned her cheek toward him and he probably worked a weird angle to tongue-kiss her...that doesn't seem like a natural mistake.

I dunno if there was a director in there or not. In my past experience, they'll tell you pretty much whatever kind of kiss they want and the actors just do that. If Franken was the director too, it looks all the worse for not being clear going into the scene.

On the day of the show Franken and I were alone backstage going over our lines one last time. He said to me, We need to rehearse the kiss. I laughed and ignored him. Then he said it again. I said something like, Relax Al, this isnt SNLwe dont need to rehearse the kiss.

He continued to insist, and I was beginning to get uncomfortable.

He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said OK so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.

I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldnt be so nice about it the next time.

I walked away. All I could think about was getting to a bathroom as fast as possible to rinse the taste of him out of my mouth.

I felt disgusted and violated.

However, if a person who, at ANY POINT, argued that the allegations against Roy Moore or Donald Trump were conveniently politically motivated, decides to chime in against Franken...please do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.

Because if Roy Moores allegations are politically motivated, yet an attack on a Democrat presidential contender (by a Fox News contributor) is not, then keep your hypocrisy to yourself.

I totally believe in rehearsing kisses -- practice like it's the real show and you don't want, say, two characters who are married to look like they're kissing for the first time. I don't know what the skit is about so maybe their characters didn't need that familiar of a kiss.

This is different though. It just sounds so forced and disrespectful toward her lack of interest in the kiss.

The picture's confusing me a bit. Is she passed out, asleep, caught in an awkward moment...? Whatever the case, bad time for a joke and it looks all the worse knowing this was after the kissing incident.

This is the only part of the whole thing that gives me pause.

I am inclined to believe the accuser because...yeah.

But the picture LOOKS like a gag and it feels like if you knew such a picture existed and wanted to add some details to a thing that really happened to ruin Franken that you could do it.

But unless Franken comes out with some exonerating details - like testimony from the photographer or some other countermanding witness - I am still inclined to believe her and condemn him.

I think that sets a terrible precedent. Expulsion from the Senate is really reserved for crimes/literal treason. Moore qualifies for that, but Franken didn't commit a crime. If he doesn't want to resign, then it's up to the people of Minnesota to decide if they want him representing them anymore.
