if marriage didn't confer extra benefits from the government, I'd agree with that lol

but it does

It's a right to receive extra governmental benefits?

Rights are literally created by governments

Natural rights arent real

Ok so your argument is contrary to our nation's founding documents and principles. Gay marriage proponents in a nutshell.

Yes

Believe it or not, equal rights are more important than the existence of America

Marriage =/= a right

Marriage is merely a formal recognition of a union between entities. Everyone has a right to be together, but there is no right to force a state or governing body to recognize their union.

"natural rights aren't real"

This is the ANTITHESES of the single founding American ideal. We do have natural, inalienable rights and the purpose of government is to secure them, not grant them. To grant a natural right means that government is God. We have a duty to destroy any government that believes it can give or take those rights away.

Can you explain where natural rights come from without religion?

Nature, dummy.

This is literally just a meaningless semantic argument. Whether you think rights are some magic thing that exist out there in the ether or are a concept that should be applied but isn't always amounts to the exact same thing - you think the government should follow those principles, but you recognize it's possible for a government to ignore or subvert them

Once a government has started doing it for SOME unions though, then it becomes a right

No matter what they like to claim, governments are the agencies that decide what rights we have.

1. If the government is selective, then it is by definition not considered a universal right

2. I'm arguing that said agency should be determined by the legislative processes in our government (like Australia is doing), not subverted through a radicalized judiciary

I side with Jefferson, whose vision created the nation that has done more good for the world than any entity in the history of civilization. I'll take that company over the Marx/Hitler/Stalin/Jakyl perspective.

I have to call this bullshit out too. None of these 4 have anything but a modicum of similarity in that Hitler and Stalin used the word "communist/socialist" in the same way North Korea uses "democratic" and "republic." Not that Marx's ideas were anything close to a good idea (their naivety is astounding even by today's standards) but come on.

I disagree with the last part. Communism, as I've read about it, is fundamentally at odds with dictatorship since it's supposed to be governed by, uh, the community. The problem was that Lenin fucked everything up by trying to go right from feudalism to communism without going through capitalism first, creating a working class that would then have the opportunity to rise up. (I investigated this pretty thoroughly in university for a history course.) When you take a monarchy from people who know only monarchy, of course they're going to go for the strongman who acts like a monarch ere long.

Marxist communism would have sucked too, possibly more since it would lead to a hilariously weak central government as well, but let's go a little deeper than "there's a sickle and hammer so he embodies Marx."
