Yuffie is always one of those characters who benefits by hanging around because there are enough people out there who like her that she'll become one or two people's mains eventually. Rikku has people who main her from the start though. They're just not very outspoken compared to some other characters. She's top ten in overall and New Era STATS for a reason! That doesn't happen by accident.

Also, if you didn't like Vincent in FFVII, I don't think Dirge will really change your mind about him. I think that applies to any character when it comes to the FFVII spinoffs, except for Zack.

Rikku isn't all that different in X-2 though. She certainly doesn't undergo the drastic changes Yuna does.

I'm not a big fan of the hyper cheerful chick archetype either, but I love tricksters. So Yuffie is the standout for me. I figure I like her for the exact same reasons you hate her - she's manipulative and sneaky, she joins the party just to double-cross you at the opportune moment, she makes you chase her all over town.

yeah those are all pretty terrible traits for a party member to have in my book

of course it'd be a little more forgivable if she had even an ounce of charm or if she'd direct those efforts toward bad guys like certain other tricksters but alas

Yeah the cardinal sin with Yuffie is that nothing she does is worth the aggravation of recruiting her.

She's like Terra or Locke in the second half of FFVI since by that point most units are functionally identical.

Terra is stupidly easy to recruit and Locke has a cool dungeon which helps mitigate the fact he's hard to get

I think Yuffie's limits were pretty good? maybe it's time for a replay

Yuffie's limit 4 is the worst in the game.... by an eternity....

Her level 3's are pretty nice though.

Doom of the Living is Omnislash-lite, so that's nice

All Creation does heavy damage to all enemies. But you're probably running up against the damage cap so yeah, not great. (Though I wouldn't call it worst. Isn't Cosmo Memory functionally identical? Possibly among others I don't remember.)

Hey I'd be happy with Squall, Light, Zidane and Tidus making top ten all the time too. Or Gilgamesh, Yuna, Auron, Barret, Laguna, Vivi, Cid H...let's just get all the high quality characters too 20 finishes all the time

All Creation and Cosmo Memory are the two worst Level 4 Limits because they only hit once.

I feel like Chaos is the worst simply because it has the downside of not being able to control him and take advantage of OP materia but Im not sure. Dont think I ever used it

It's not a direct clash like it is with Yuna but she's definitely very different.

She's not very different at all. Her natural personality she showed a lot in X just gets to actually be turned up to 11 now because she doesn't have to wake up every day worried about Sin killing her and everything she ever knew.... and Yuna potential fate spoilers as well.

Eh, it's been a long time since I've played X-2, so if Rikku did anything that was "that doesn't seem like the sort of thing she would do," it didn't stick out in my mind the way that it did with Yuna. She's a lot sillier in X-2, but everyone is. It's part of the irreverent nature of the game.

Like half the reason I liked Rikku in FFX was that she wasn't like super over the top peppy girl-- she was generally upbeat but she had plenty of moments of being down to earth too. FFX-2 is like a caricature of FFX Rikku.

If anything I think Yuna's the more natural of the two in terms of her character changes because she has a reason to try and act different to cope or whatever. Rikku just starts flipping out for the hell of it.

Wakka, Lulu and Kimahri just kinda settled down, mostly the same but less travelling and fighting. Lucil and Clasko just found a new cause to be annoying about.
