Switch kid's afraid to leave his dock!

I very rarely play on handheld mode (just because Ive always been more of a console gamer), but it can be convenient.

I really just take my Switch off the dock when Im not playing anything on it for safer storage.

I thought I'd spend most time with it docked, but it's turned out to be about 50/50. Most of that has still been within the house, but it is surprisingly handy to be able to take it to other rooms, like setting it up with the stand on my desk so I can continue playing while chatting with friends on Discord. The portability also made for one particularly great moment where one of my girlfriend's friends was hospitalized with Chron's disease, and we brought my Switch into her hospital room so they could play Snipperclips together, which was delightful.

I always use mine in handheld mode because my tv is crappy and my good tv is hanging on the wall and its uncomfortable to use

Yeah, being able to play it in other rooms in the house would be nice. Someone stuck in a hospital for an extended time, (extended time being like more than 2 seconds since I hate hospitals!!!) also a good thing.

I just have no interest in mobile gaming. If I did, I'd get a handheld.

I walked into Target when Mario Odyssey came out and they had at least a dozen of them on display, and 6 of them were the Mario Odyssey bundle ones.

Yeah I don't know what this whole thing is about Switch shortages. Maybe it's just a regional thing? I pre-ordered mine just to be safe, but I almost always see some on the shelves when I'm at a store that sells them

Probably because every Nintendo console has a shortage. And as far as I know the Switch had one for a few months after it came out (every console does to be fair), but after that I saw them all over the place.

Playstation and Xbox consoles look like they should be hooked up to the TV for people to actually be gamers.

You know when you go to a hospital or a bank and they have that area with toys for kids? It looks like that's where Nintendo consoles should be. I mean, the lunchbox....I mean the Gamecube even had a carrying handle!!

I don't play handheld very often, but the portability is still invaluable. I have a dock hooked to my PC monitoring and one to the TV, and I switch back and forth between them a lot. Also nice to play in a plane or on the train (with the joycons separated and the switch on the table is my favorite way).

I used to travel a lot and handheld mode was a dream come true. I beat Zelda (90+ hours) and I never once docked it.

Nowadays I dock it unless I wanna lay in bed and keep playing :)

I used it docked for the first time ever. Mostly to see if it worked or not. The dock feature is neat but I'd rather have the TV free for other things playing in the background. Like Bob's Burgers, or tentacle porn.

As a handheld, I do find it not that great. It's too large to fit in most pockets, especially with the joycons attached, which makes carrying it around less practical than, say, sticking a 3DS in my pocket. That's not to say I've never brought it somewhere, but only when I've got a backpack or the back seat of the car to toss it into, which isn't all the time.

All consoles look like toys to some degree or another. If you're relying on your choice of video game box to make you look like a mature adult, you should probably be rethinking that strategy a bit.

For quite a while, mine never left the dock.

Then I got incredibly ill and didn't want to leave my bed for like a week. The Switch became my best friend that week.
