Probably the same one from the NSMB games. The only SMB2 thing Toad is blue in is the original NES version. The out of game art and the All-Stars / Advance remakes all have him red. Anyways, I don't think Nintendo ever really intended for there to be a single individual Toad that was actually named Toad rather than there just being generic Toads. I think we all know the story behind Mario 2 at this point? The Mario cartoons and similar material of that era was western-created and western-oriented marketing that included Toad as a main character because of his Mario 2 appearance and probably wasn't being closely observed (or even particularly cared about) by anyone working on the games - and of course Miyamoto himself isn't fully fluent in English even now so he certainly couldn't have been making sure they stuck to the (lol) Mario canon. There was a "Toad" individual in Super Mario RPG but that was developed by Square and for all I know that might just have been a localization thing. That leaves...what, maybe Wario's Woods?
