I didn't hate FMA. It was just boring. I'm talking about the original, not Brotherhood. Or are you talking about Code Geass? Garbage ending ruined everything in that case.

As far as Gurren Lagann is concerned, Kamina is one of the worst anime characters I've encountered. I just couldn't stand watching anything with him in it anymore.

Apparently the writers couldn't either since I later learned he died the episode after I dropped it.

The weird thing is that the show was highly recommended to me because I made a topic about how I love "against all odds making the impossible possible" stories and characters who never give up no matter how bad it gets (I believe Skies of Arcadia was one of the examples I cited, in fact), and they told me that was the fuel that made TTGL run.

And somehow they managed to botch it.

TTGL started a slow buildup towards episode 8 and then nothing happens from then on until like episode 19 or so. That's when the magic happens.

It's my least favorite of the late 00s trio.

Interesting for you to say Ruru is overrated when you hate the ending. Isn't the whole point of hating it because he fails and Suzaku takes a steaming dump on him. I know I hate the ending because of that.

Well Death Note is just a straight up villain protagonist, as opposed to something like Code Geass where it's a heroic protagonist who believes pretty strongly in ends justifying the means. (To be clear, all I'm saying is the narrative appears to treat his actions has heroic, I'm not trying to make any claim as to whether or not they are actually heroic.)

I'm still not sure you'd like Death Note, but I do think that is an important distinction to make.

In Skies of Arcadia news, Blue Moon Crystal get! Mt. Kazai is as annoying as I remembered, especially the boss. He used Steelskin (which negates all damage) every time I tried to use Pirates' Wrath. I eventually got tired of it and just dropped Prophecy on him.

I like the ship battle with Vigoro because it's just a straight up slugfest to see who's stronger. Then it's utterly satisfying to blow the Blue Gigas out of the sky with the Moonstone Cannon. Also, Yafutoma doesn't have many interesting NPCs, but it's nice that most of them join your crew, so that balances things out.

I won the second Piastol fight, got some backstory on Ramirez from Doc, learned the world is round, and explored by brand new secret base, which is such a cool feeling the first time you get there. Also, maybe Vyse isn't playing dumb about the love triangle after all if he can't figure out why Aika and Fina have a picture of him in their rooms.

The Lands of Ice and the Purple Moon Crystal are next, but not before we tackle Zeiss in Trails FC!

Probably, but I have a strong sense of knowing whether I'll like something or not. I watch plenty of things with cursing and violence in them. I just don't want to be inundated by it. It's why I don't really watch horror or play survival horror since the gruesome deaths are a large part of the appeal.
