I'm sorry but I just can't accept people grumbling over this - Twitch can't be cheap to operate, I don't give a flying fuck about emoticons, if this will extract money from people who have way too much money to throw around, then who cares, if it helps keep Twitch alive and free to use

Also it's important to note that most of the money is going to the streamers. For example:
