how's everyone felling heading into Xenoblade 2? it's been quiet on the Xenoblade front, which is a little surprising given that we're only 6 weeks away from release. Are most people on a wait and see approach after the reveal? Burnt out by X? what's up?

I'm currently messing around with X on CEMU. it's not running perfect but it's more than playable. this world is so huge, it's a blast just jumping around at full speed listening to the music.

I think it looks great. Especially since they improved the faces. However I have no idea if I will have the time if it has as much content in it as X.

I am incredibly hyped for Xenoblade 2. However it's one of those games that I prefer not to think about or I'll not stop thinking about how hyped I am for it.

As far as X goes I still need to get around to beating it. I stopped where you have to grind to a certain level before you can continue.

I've been following news and watching the gameplay videos and I'm hyped for it. Battles all seem to take a long time though, so I dunno about that. There does appear to be a great deal of depth to the battle system with various levels of combos to master.

It looks like there's gonna be quite a big variety of Blades, and they collected a lot of artists to design them (which means they're kinda hit or miss though, but something for everyone I guess).

Kinda sad it's not going to be like X. Hoping it actually is. My expectations for X were fairly low before playing it, but it blew me away and I liked it a lot more than XB1. Hopefully this does the same?

Yeah, they said there's even more exploration and stuff to do than there was in X.

The Japanese Xenoblade Twitter's been posting updates and they've revealed like 8 of the rare Blades so far (the most recent one has very jiggly boobs), along with tidbits like if you control Nia, you can ride her beast Blade for faster travel.

totally fine if you're okay with the concept of playing a PS2-era rpg on a 3DS screen

I played through it on my n3DS after completing it with HD PC mods and had no issue

You might be right, but with X there was a steady slow stream of updates over more than two years. With this it has been such a short time with fairly few big updates (at least in the west) so that might be it. The reveal certainly had more hype than any point for the other two I think. It certainly got more views!

Extremely cautious about Xeno 2 since X was so intensely ruined so I don't really trust that the story will be there again. I'll probably wait and see if the X fanboys hate it before getting it.

I'm still trying to get through the first game. There's too many missions...

My inventory was getting full, so I decided to sell all the stuff I was carrying that came from the first couple of areas. Then the game hits me with a bunch of quests that are all like "Hey, get this random item from that early area of the game". Arrrrrrrrghhhhh.

as for me, I really liked X but the visuals of XB2 are so offputting that I haven't really been able to get into it. I find it easiest to get into people describing it but then I see it in action and eh.

that said, I'd be all in if I had a switch but I've made my peace with not having one until Christmas at least. if we were to get one, it would have to go under the tree.

Same with MGS numbered and MGS lettered but someone's opinion on MGSV definitely reveals their opinion of MGS1/2/3 for example. And the designs of the different series definitely influence each other.

Basically, if Monolith has it in them to make X, there is no way I am getting unconditionally hyped for ANY game they make.

What GMUN was getting at is Monolith said they're calling this Xenoblade 2 because they're putting the emphasis back on story progression like Xenoblade 1 had.

If you're going to say I misread your argument (you just meant you don't like X so MS isn't a 100% seal of quality, but in-which case your argument about story significance is void) that's fine, but to say you didn't make an argument at all is just completely dishonest.

I preordered it back in January along with Zelda and Mario. Glad to hear the story is unrelated to any previous Xenoblade games as I haven't played much of the original or any of X. I could marathon them and get through them in a few weeks but then I'd be burned out on the series by the time 2 got here. So instead I'll play 2 when it comes and get back to the others another time.

X had a story and it had a lot of gameplay and it had a lot of deep structure which was bad. It's not like they executed perfectly on a game with intentionally no story. It tried a bunch of stuff, including story, and failed really hard on a lot of it. Really terribly.

If they actually thought all that stuff was good, then I would be highly skeptical of Xeno 2. If they knew all that shit sucked and it was just an open world cash grab, then good. But I'm not sure.

If I recall was X just a test to see what worked and what didn't. So they could have really good gameplay and a huge world to go with a great story. Like one of my big issues was the mechs and I think those are gone.

Revealed another blade today that uses tomes as a weapon. That's cool if it focuses on artes like Riki/Melia had, since I loved playing as them and stacking sap damage.
