I would absolutely call Hank Hill an Alcoholic. If you're drinking daily, you're definitely one.

Calling him a "drunkard" would be more of a stretch however.

The idea for the contest is for characters that are known for being intoxicated though. Hank is rarely, if ever, intoxicated.

Just something to think about for that opening post tomorrow, but I'm also wondering if merely collecting a bounty would make someone a bounty hunter or if they need the actual job title. I guess that might open it up too much, plenty of characters hunt down the local monster and are rewarded for it

Also you might not even remember this but like a year ago I was a real jerk during the KotM nominations for pets. I apologize, and I still feel bad about that. Still, I promise to be better now.

To get around gameplay mechanics, the bounty hunting aspect has to be part of their character, not just the game's layout.

Assassins typically get employed by someone, bounty hunters are often more freelance. Yes there's overlap (there was significant overlap with Ninja for Assassins too since many ninja are assassins). The words "bounty hunter" being used by the media to describe them is overwhelmingly helpful though. It's one of the things I'll be looking the most for.

I've decided against characters that don't hunt for living things. Those are basically just Treasure Hunters, which is a strong standalone category that I'm not going to have crossover with this one. It also doesn't strike anyone to call Lara Croft or Nathan Drake a "bounty hunter". It isn't befitting for the category.

The overlap with Assassins is unavoidable, some assassins could definitely be called bounty hunters too. This isn't a first or anything since that category was overlapped by Ninja to some extent. However, Bounty Hunters typically differ because they work from bounties offered rather than doing actual contract killings. When in doubt, look for references in whatever media they're from calling them a "bounty hunter". It's a near shoe-in for inclusion.

I think the crux of a bounty hunter should be that the hunting job gets posted somewhere and anyone can take it. Jesse and James are really more attempted kidnappers or thieves.

Then again I haven't watched the anime in over fifteen years. Maybe it's changed!

I would not view them that way because they don't really do anything but the same thing over and over again, and it's not "taking bounties" which is kinda what you need for this category. I don't think they've ever been once called bounty hunters so that hurts a bit. If you can find where they are, I'll consider though.
