I think 30 is pretty old to be living with your parents, depending on circumstances. But there's a difference between living with your parents as a lazy man-child and living with them while working and taking care of yourself. I lived with my mom till 23 and man I had to get the hell out of there if I wanted to remain sane.

If your parents are giving you booty on the DL, that's a weird circumstance.

The closer you get to 30 and then anything above 30. But sometimes you just can't help it so it is what it is. These are different times.

As long as you're working/helping support the household, I don't see anything wrong with it. If anything, it would be admirable to do so especially if you were able to work and support yourself and they were old and unable to so you were helping them.

If you are mooching and not doing anything... That's another story

It all depends on the situation.

If you are living at home and taking advantage of your parents doing the laundry, etc like they always did when you are a kid, then it is a little sad.

There are many reasons to live with a parent. Lots of people fall on hard financial times. Maybe the parents are sick and need extra care. Heck, I know a guy who lives somewhere else on the weekends and stays with his parents during the week because it is closer to work.

No.

Everything I need at the moment is around me in less than a 20 mile radius. That, and the fact that it would be way outside of my living expense to move. Plus, I would likely remain single for the rest of my life since no girl would want to date a loser like me.

Yes, these are pathetic excuses, but I don't see any point in moving at the moment.

No, not really.
I dunno why people criticize those who stick with their families. Leaving your family as soon as possible is the way that seems strange tbh.

No real idea, since apparently it's becoming a common practice these days. I had a former classmate who, after either dating or marrying a girl, wound up moving in with her and her parents (I think they finally got their own place later on). It reminded me of All In the Family, where Archie Bunker's daughter and meathead son-in-law were both living with him. That I considered kinda weird... although I probably would have considered the woman moving in with the guy's family less weird since that was a cultural norm in the west.

Speaking of cultural norms, apparently it's common practice in China for the parents to move into their married child's home. Imagine that puts a damper on any relationship.

Personally, I moved out in my mid-20s but that was mostly just to co-hab with my girlfriend at the time than any real necessity.

I'll give you until 25.

After 25 (as a dude at least) you may as well not bother dating.

25+ is when you hit "whats wrong with you/what happened in your life that youre still living with your parents?"

30+ is when you hit "guess you're not moving out, huh? Well, there goes our summer home in florida..."

Nope. Providing you're not being a burden, pay your own way and whatnot I don't see a issue with it. It's hopefully not a permanent thing though as that would be bad. For example if you start creating your own family while living with your parents then that starts going down a slippery slope. This doesn't have much relevance to age though.

Really, past 30 I would say. I moved out at 28, but I stayed that long to pay off student loans while not having to pay rent/utilities. I paid my parents rent, but it was substantially less than an apartment.

Circumstance obviously is a large factor in each situation, but there really isn't a "set age."

I would look less at the number and more at the person him/herself. If they're, say, 28, but they come from a well-off family, and said person is in grad school going for a PhD and is clearly motivated and setting themselves up for a huge career full of success, but is just living at home with parents to save money (and isn't significantly negatively impacting said parents' finances), then no, it's not weird.

But if said same 28 year old is unemployed and/or works <20 hour weeks at Starbucks (because his parents said so) and sits in the basement playing video games with no motivation to go to school or start a career or anything, while said family is financially unable to keep their head above the water, then yes, it is weird (and pathetic).

Worry less about the number and more about the individual.

If you're in school trying to better your future no. I know a few people who are living with their parents just because they're not trying to spend money on an apartment. Saving as much as they can to make make a large down payment on a house.
If you're not doing nothing and mooching off them then yes. I know another girl who plays video games all day. She refuses to go to work and go to school. Her parents pay the bills. She's convinced them that she's going to online school unfortunately.
There are a ton of reasons and different scenarios for all ages.
