From what I understand, no. Replaying the board game resets your character to LV0. The way to improve your characters is to get some money in the dungeon and unlock their upgraded cards through the gacha machine. I believe the upgraded cards significantly improves their growth during the board game.

I think you are right. I got one upgraded card, nagito, and managed to level him significantly higher than any common card in my experience. He got to level 69.

the U cards are nuts once you get that far, they can hit the cap of level 99 with just one year on the Normal Course and the other two in Talent for more skill levels (it is possible to reach 99 with an S, but they need all three years on Normal and a successful Monokub surgery event)

The implanted memories bit was obvious for both me and a friend who has been telling me his thoughts as he plays; the exact circumstances weren't clear, but I was certain from the opening scene that the whole thing was being invented in some capacity (same as the digital door in the opening scene DR2).

As far as Tsumugi cosplaying as Kaede, Kaede isn't a fictional character, but a "real fictional" character. In the context of this world, Kaede is essentially a created person. Their background and memories are created, but as all the characters are saying at the end, their experiences and interpretations of the world are signs that they are real, living humans. Tsumugi being unable to cosplay as Kaede supports the idea that they are real.

I imagine it probably started as like, 'well we made a live action TV show sequel' that got popular and then continued making sequels like that. Probably got some Hollywood movies, then a no-death pretend death game, then it kept getting more and more popular and they started wanting to do more with it and it kept escalating.

Can't imagine it would just jump right to "yeah DR4 is a real death game!"

That's also why I don't take the ending as personally as some people seem to...it's not about us, the actual audience, but the way some things that become popular are sometimes broken down into their most basic elements, missing the original intent. The world of Danganronpa V3 is just as much of a dystopia as the original arc; it just looks closer to ours. Tsumugi's claims about why the audience engages with it are not actually the true reason most of us care about this series.

I think a big part of the effectiveness of the loss of Gonta is the massive presence (pun intended) he had throughout the game prior to that. If you look at the event art, he's in nearly all of them. It's hard for me to think back to a time where Gonta wasn't somewhat involved with SOMETHING going on.

Meanwhile, you've got another sad chapter 4 death in Gundham, a character I love, who was basically a non factor in the plot or group dynamic. He dropped am earing once.

This is put well, I think. I wouldn't think he fills the same role as Hagakure within V3, but I didn't feel like Gonta brought much to the group, honestly.

Like I guess comparing him to Hagakure is a bit harsh, I do like Gonta more than him, whereas Hagakure was actually just bad outright.

But I would much rather have kept Ryoma and had Gonta be the one to die in chapter 2. It would have been way more interesting.

Also, as a side note, I really would have been interested in seeing what Ryoma had to say about the twist at the end if he lived that long. I feel like that the 'you're all fictional' twist would have had the OPPOSITE effect on him and actually GIVEN him a reason to live.

IIRC you're looking at about 20-25 minutes for each characters, though there's overlap every character involved in each skit other than the seasonal events. As such you'll be skipping more and more as.you go along.

Also you should probably watch everyone's love Hotel Scene since it can take upwards of 20+ hours to unlock them all, all of them only total under and hour and a half.

You can get 10k tokens in 10-15 minutes each really easily

You play either the fishing game or the mining game on the hardest setting and bet the max amount. Salmon fishing is easier from my experience.

Neither are very hard and take about 2 minutes per game. Even if you don't get max payout every time you get them really fast. I got about 5 in an hour period while listening to a podcast before I got tired of it.

I'm interested in trying out these other modes, especially if DR1/2 characters appear in them

There were a lot of really good characters, though. Definitely my favorite cast of the three as a group (I may do a ranking or something later but I'd need to ponder it a lot. I think I'll just leave it at Maki and Korekiyo being my favorites for now)

I didn't actually have issue with it as in personal dislike. I was primarily surprised by Tsumugi cleanly at the bottom, because of how strongly that implies Japan hated the ending.

Also Maki, Kaito and Gonta were a lot lower than I have them, too so <_<

(Also Kaede and Shuichi at the absolute top, which isn't surprising because Japan loves its main characters)
