I'm not even sure Mal's statement is accurate if the basis for ejection (which is enforced by the state) has to do with freedom of speech.

Good. The same liberals who say "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequence" should be behind this.

Is this a private school? Because if it's public that could easily be seen as an arm of the government punishing a student for exercising a constitutional right.

Can't do that if it's a public school. The Supreme Court already ruled on something similar to this when students didn't want to recite the pledge years ago. An arm of the government (which a public school is) can't punish a student for exercising their right to free speech in that manner.

This. It's fucking amazing to me how many chuckle fucks don't actually understand the issues behind this and how the USSC has already ruled on these type of cases. Public schools cannot force their students to partake in these types of things under the threat of punishment. This isn't the same as an employer/employee relationship and it isn't a 1 to 1 ratio between this and the NFL protests no matter how hard people want to mash the two issues together.

I don't know what you're not getting about this

Yeah, that's not true at all. Unless something is a private club which doesn't receive funding from the school, which certainly is not the case in this situation, they absolutely are associated and an arm of the school. Likewise because an athlete's actions are being threatened by punishment by the school(the principal is issuing this threat) then it's absolutely an overreach and therefore a violation.

Learn law please, because the amount of times you spout ignorant bullshit about things you don't know is astounding.

You can't get fired from the White House for exercising freedom of speech. They'll need some other reason.

I don't think you should get suspended for refusing to participate in the anthem. Even if you are protesting a bunch of bullcrap that doesn't exist like BLM does. Happy? Being ejected from the team or game would not bother me nearly as much if at all.

Obviously this crap all rolled downhill from the NFL, so my comment was directed at the source. I don't care if professionals end up unemployed from their bubbleheaded victim antics because they are employees causing their employers to lose money.

At least you actually acknowledged the topic at hand while using stupid buzzwords instead of simply ignoring them. But being ejected and punished by the school is still a violation, despite you hating that.

Likewise unfortunately for you the NFL employers aren't stopping and instead encouraging their employees to exercise their right. So you can go pound salt and cry about it all you want

You seem very outraged. I don't think these kids are being water boarded to stay on the football team. They can decide to stand or get off the team. If the national anthem bothers them that much then I would suggest a sport not steeped in American tradition, like maybe badminton, that seems safe.

Liberals hate rules, it makes them mad that they can't be special.

Maybe I'm not understanding, then. This is a very specific scenario that has to do with patriotism and not wanting to participate. It isn't just your average free speech scenario.

Free speech advocates is missing quotes, he's referring to the free speech proponents that only seem to care in situations like Charlottesville. Not the leftist free speech proponents that are defending the students here.

To be fair, I think people only "care" about North Korea because NK's been working towards a viable nuclear weapons program and they've been recently threatening to use those (eventual) weapons against the US and its allies. Other than that, people in the West act upset about Kim Jong Un oppressing his people, but if you notice, nothing much was being done about it.

Lol, people on all sides of society, regardless of political affiliation, will probably always want the best of both worlds. This isn't a binary situation.

For example, Conservatives want smaller government influence over business (hate rules), but a lot of them also want the government to step in and stop abortions (authoritarian). Conversely, Liberals want the government to keep out of the abortion process (hate rules), but they also want the government to strongarm businesses through taxes and deep regulations (authoritarian).

These people are habitual criminals. They commit murder, assault, and rape, just to name a few of their proven charges. They are not statistically even good compared to the greats and they all think they're the reincarnation of Christ.

Remember, these "role models" are showing kids that you can cut somebody's head off (ray Lewis) or cause a shootout at a nightclub after a stripper picks up money you threw in the air (pacman jones).

On top of all of this, the other message they send to kids (and adults) is that you should spend $2000 for every $1000 you get.

However in regards to this, there is actually a bit of this going on on with both the owners and the players. We have players like Dez Bryant citing wanting to respect the owner / not mess up the money he's getting as at least being part of the reason he himself hasn't taken a knee.

But obviously the owners are scared of the players to some degree too. They know that cutting a player over this protest will simply spark other players to kneel and a good deal of negative public reaction. And unfortunately for them, they can't simply replace their employees as easily as most other employers could. Hypothetically if a large percentage of players individually decided to kneel, what are they going to do? Cut them all and almost assuredly set their franchise back?

If this analogy is accurate, it applies to both sides of the aisle equally. You could just as easily replace the trump hat with purple SJW hair. But I don't find the analogy to be true. NFL players protesting in this way is having a direct impact on their employers revenue.

I'm not going to argue against an employers legal right to fire people because I'm far more libertarian than the status quo. But that doesn't mean I can't hold an opinion on when hiring and firing decisions are foolish.
