A quick reminder. If you don't get Sylvia, Drace(4*) will have a comparable sword(80 ATK 100 MAG Sword, +10% MP) in the future on the next FF12 banner.

Syvia is.... 100 Atk, 84 mag?

If I'm remembering that correctly, Drace's seems like a pretty big improvement for hybrid users. Either of them will outdamage and outmag a Mateus' Malice build. Going to be rough getting rid of that extra HP though.

Still gonna pull for Sylvia, but probably won't pull as hard if that sword is showing up anytime soon. That 10% MP is for sure worth losing 4 Mag.

Just wish Sylvia wasn't stuck on a banner with another 4* unit that I most definitely don't want.

Do you have Tilith? She can mostly hold up, but Ayaka is a lot better. If you don't plan on doing any of the harder content you really won't need Ayaka, but from what I've been told from JP players you need either her or CG Fina to avoid having a lot of issues with the harder content.

CG Sakura is the next one I'm stocking for. I still haven't been able to figure out if she's a unit that it's good to have multiples of. Other than that, I'm considering Sephiroth. I hate him as a character, but he chains well with so many characters so he'd get a lot of use.

Save the 10+1 tickets. They don't apply to any specific banner, so you can have a much better chance at getting a rainbow if they're saved for the rate up.

Finished the story. Final boss was very NeoExdeath. The boss fights were all very easy for this update, though. Nothing like Behemoth and Sol from Land of Crystals. Everyone was easily one-shot.

Time to spend my 100% moogle on Shadow.

Bahamut

Strategy 1.

Primary Units: Garnet/Eiko/Yuna

Using a Friend unit with Bahamut equipped to kill Bahamut in one turn with a chained up Bahamut. Requires Summoner Magic + 10% equipped on the unit that is going to be summoning (Recipe - in Olderion City).

Note our Garnet is 20% stronger before *6.

Strategy 2.

Beating down Bahamut with Mistair eating up Megaflares etc. Requires:

High % Mag Break (Knight Delita, Ramza,

Increased Fire, Ice, and Lightning Resistances

Paralysis Resistance

A team that can do ~20% damage per turn.

Turn 1 - MegaFlare

Turn 2 - Lighning Attack, Normal Attack, Countdown 3

Turn 3 - Blizzard Attack, Normal Attack, Countdown 2

Turn 4 - Atomic Ray (Fire Attack), Dispelga, Normal attack, Countdown 1 + AoE Paralysis

It repeats after turn 4. Thresholds (only on turn that it goes below the threshold):

80% - Additional Lightning Attack

60% - Additional Blizzard Attack

40% - Additional Fire Attack

20% - Additional Megaflare (weak version)

If the threshold is the same turn as Turn 1 above (strong Megaflare), Bahamut will only do a strong megaflare. The threshold attacks will be shifted to the turn after (turn 2).

<20% - Every turn has a weak megaflare added (unlike the previous turns).

Try to kill him in one turn at this point. Otherwise it will be very painful.

WARNING

Crossing multiple thresholds at once = STACKED THRESHOLD ATTACKS. High probability of wiping. DO NOT CROSS MULTIPLE THRESHOLDS. This is why ~20% attack team is the best, that way you only cross one threshold at a time.

Battle Plan

Surviving First Turn

The first turn Megaflare hurts:

Mag break him, preferably with a unit that does more than 45% mag break (Ramza Mind Break +2, Knight Delita, etc).

Build up limits BEFORE you go to fight Bahamut

Buff Def and SPR

Use damage reduction abilities (Earth Veritas, Mistair's LB, etc.)

Have AoE res units (Ayaka, Rikku, etc.) or AoE Re-raise (Rikku)

I recommend trying to survive the first turn rather than depending on AoE Re-raise/raise as if units die = buffs gone, next turn will be spent ressing + rebuffing etc.

Summoner Method Details

Very straight forward. Use Garnet/Eiko/Yuna with a friend unit with a maxed Bahamut equipped to one-shot the enemy Bahamut by topping off a chain.

Setup:

4 x 10% Summons Magic Up

Strong SPR debuff unit (Tim's LB is good for this)

2 x units that are good chain builders for 10+ elemental chains (OK, Orlandus, Shantottos, etc.)

Plan:

Build up Summon Gauge PRIOR to battle

SPR debuff Bahamut right away.

Time Bahamut to hit right when the elemental chain is 10+

and that is it!

Sounds easy right? Problem is Bahamut's long summon time = hard to hit the right spot. He may survive - I recommend having the other spots filled with STRONG dps units or using strong chainers, so even if the Bahamut damage hits at 9 chains (early is better than late!) they can finish him off.

Mistair Method Details

This is just using Mistair instead of any other tank - as her skill will take all of the Megaflare damage (plus sometimes even the other skills in the inbetween turns!). Keep Re-raise on her if you can.

Equip wise - stack primarily SPR and secondary DEF gear on Mistair, as she may even take the normal hits and such as a tank.

Be careful not to cross too many thresholds at once. It can HURT A LOT.

So apparently the recommendation of the 'Should You Pull?' reviewer is to not pull on this banner. Goken's passives and active skillsets conflict, Silvia isn't even a poor-man's Fry, one 3* has to wait for her 6* awakening to release before being useable, and the other is only useful as TMR fodder. And good luck getting Ayaka.

Well that's a bit sobering. I figured Silvia wouldn't be great, but it's still disappointing to know she's pretty much useless as a unit.

I generally don't pull for units (with the exception of Ayaka and CG Sakura when she's released now), I tend to go for the TMRs. Silvia will allow me to stop using Mateus' Malice on Fry and I should be able to push her over 1000 Mag

TMRs aren't even a consideration for me when I do pulls. It's more about what units are good out the box versus what needs gear to make them good. Since I can't TMR farm, I've never even given a thought as to what units have which TMRs, and when I get duplicate units, they automatically just get fused together.

Daily got me Yuri, 4* ticket nabbed a second Desch, and five regular tickets got me a second Kefka, Silvia, and Meliadoul. All in all, that's actually pretty good. I think I'll just stick with the dailies from now on, until the urge to pull that lever again calls to me.

I was that way early on, but then I realized there were specific units that I wanted, so that made me start saving. Ive found it hard to even do daily 250s on most of the recent banners because I want to build up more lapis.

You just have to keep going. Sometimes it takes 135 pulls to get the job done!

And that's where I'm at. There are units that I would like to have, but they're in the pool already. Those that are out there look like they'd be nice, but I doubt they're so amazing that they're absolute must-haves. People can rave about CG Sakura and Fina all they want, but unless they absolutely break current content, I'm not sure I see the point in chasing them other than to have the next big shiny. I'd rather pull steadily and get my satisfaction of cracking that crystal, rather than sit on a hundred tickets on the off-chance I won't be disappointed.
