why'd you like the second half better than the first?

I'll go into more depth at the end of the season, but basically, they dialed the cheese meter up to a level that felt appropriate given the ridiculous concept, making it much more fun to watch.

it's like stuff is always happening and you always want to see more and sometimes it takes a while so you want it even more and then you get excited when it happens and it's so good

Tsurezure/Tsudure might be my favorite of the season

Tsurezure is vastly superior to Gamers in ever way. Seeing you compare the two actually makes me like Gamers less, I think.

Ended up literally marathoning it lol. So good. Texting skit with class rep and little sis was probably the best one. Dating Master and Kitten was also incredible, both times.

I think that's a pretty crazy thing to say! Gamers is pretty damn great. Some of the best laugh out loud moments in a long time, fantastic VA work supporting great delivery, a real good overall package! I've watched the Game of Life sequence in episode 8 4 times now.

I just find it too slow-paced and predictable. They set up a punch line and then take so long to deliver to it that when it actually happens it's not even funny anymore. Fast pacing is a huge plus for me in anime, generally, which is part of why Tsurezure is so excellent.

Well, sems like a pretty clear case of to each their own, then. Slow buildup is often the best part of comedy to me.

I thought Dating Master dude with Kitten were my least favorite but outside a few silly quirks the main reason I like Tsuredure a lot is because many of the characters actually feel pretty realistic and the relationships highlight how potentially awkward some can be while still having funny humor and mixing up the characters well. That said choosing a favorite is hard because the amount of characters there are but theyre likable in a different way that mayn romance characters are executed.

Gamers takes a different approach with less total characters and just more silly misunderstandings. Misunderstandings arent new to romance stuff but they clearly know what theyre going with. Individual characters are probably more waifu-y (mostly Tendou and eroge chick). While it would be nice if Gamers had more of them actually playing games they mix game lingo and playing games enough that it shows how awkward teens are with silly high school romance (albeit more anime style exagerrated)

So I like both quite a lot personally

Without the humor I'm not sure how much Gamers has going for it. It doesn't have much for nice romance moments. There was the date with Tendo, and that was about it? Well, I guess the second ep had some nice stuff with Aguri, but not really since then.

Well shit I'm out of episodes since the last season isn't on Hulu. Can't believe Nick ended the show, but it sounds like they have a new 2D TMNT series planned for next year. There's so much Japanese in this show. Even the final episode had a Japanese title. It's pretty cool to see them use it so often even if some other people might think it makes the show "weeb".

Gotta figure out what to watch next now. I could try some real anime though I might need to look at old charts to even see what the hell I missed that I wanted to watch. Been so long since I tried to follow any new anime

Okay, so, talking more about Tsurezure Children. Really great show overall. Excellent cast, superb pacing, refreshingly original without being too weird, and just everything about it was plain well done. Some of the couples weren't quite as compelling as the others, which prevented it from being a perfect show, but I really liked most of them. Talking about the individual couples:

Akagi + Ryouko (class pres + delinquent): I generally enjoyed them, and their last segment especially was really good, but I liked the girl here better than the guy. He was just a bit too aggressive, and we didn't really get to see much from him that made him any deeper than that.

Furuya + Minagawa (class reps): Minagawa was my favorite character in the show. Everything she did was terrifically entertaining, and as I said, the text part with Furuya's little sister was incredible. Their relationship wasn't quite the best one though. It really felt like it should've gone somewhere by the end, especially since that last segment basically confirmed everything.

Goda x Kamine (stoic guy x shy girl): For pure dramatic romance, they were the best. Everything about them was pretty adorable, and I loved how in sync they were. They basically took stories from like, shoujo chapters/episodes, and condensed them into 2.5 minutes so they didn't get old. Great stuff. Less comedic than the others though.

Kana x Chiaki (childhood friend comedy duo): More on the comedic side, but also the romance side. Kinda the core of the show. They were generally really entertaining, though also a bit frustrating since things kept going wrong when they had the potential to go right. Definitely good for emotional connection. Good spot in the final ep.

Kazuko x Katori (kitten x dating master): The most comedic duo of the show. I found both of their segments to be absolutely hilarious. He's basically chuuni as fuck, and she just completely buys into everything he says. I didn't think he was that great in his first segment with the drama girl, but after that they basically figured him out and took him too the extreme, which was exactly where he needed to go. It's possible that he could get old eventually, but he was used sparely enough that he never did.

Astronomy Club: This one was kinda weird. Three segments, and all of them were pretty solid, but none of them went quite far enough? This one feels the most incomplete. I dunno where it's going. I think I'd rank it the lowest.

Sugawara x Takano (sporty guy x kuudere): Another one that was nice and sweet and romantic. I dunno if it had any huge standout sections, but all their skits were very good. Nice stuff.

Takase x Kanda (text couple): Their first segment with the texting was fantastic. Everything about it was basically perfect comedy, right up to the end. They weren't super funny or romantic after that though. Needed more from their storyline, but they rank fairly low.

Kurihara x Yamane (popular girl x nerd): Didn't get too much screentime, but they were quite nice. Good comedy. I like that they didn't shy away from making him ugly. Motoyama being such a huge bro, especially in the final segment, was incredible. Good times.

Might have to read the manga sometime. Wonder how long it'll keep going on for.

Beated episode 1. Sure is a weird show so far. Nagisa might as well be a girl since he looks like and sounds like one. Silly Japan and their weird character designs.

Nagisa really gets good at a point in the show.

He seems ok. His design is just distracting because what person gives a guy hair like that for their main character. It would be like having a girl with a beard as a lead or something.

I thought he was a girl all the way up till release and was dissapointed the moment he started talking, lol. It was a kick in the teeth. I can't really overstate how much more female characters interest me than male ones 90% of the time.

I'll say that in addition there was certainly some salt involved in regards to AssClass getting a proper adaptation when Neuro did not.

I'll take a reverse trap or girl lead over nearly any male anime lead since most are garbage at best. There are some good ones at least, but so many just use the same 1-2 character types for their male lead and with so many even looking alike it's hard to tell one loser apart from another
