I know 7-10 dollars an hour isn't really good, but what about 11 and beyond?

Every $1 per hour is approx $2K a year given a 40 hour work week (before taxes)
"Good" in my mind means that you're making more than you are spending. So whatever you spend, make sure you're making more than that

Depends on the field and level of education, 15 an hour sounds good for a non skilled job, but it's expensive as hell here

Pretty much. There's no single value for "enough money," because everyone's wants and needs are going to be different. Figure out how much the life you want will cost, then make a bit more than that so you can save some of it to cover unexpected expenses.

The poverty line is actually a lot lower than that. Even a lot of major cities you can make do on less than $30k assuming that you have roommates and live modestly.

If you live anywhere in the LA area you need at least $20/hour to just get by.

Under the official Forbes definition: Take the median rent of your low end single person apartments and multiply that by 3.

If you aren't making that every month - go to war.

Varies greatly depending on the cost of living where you are.

There are quite a few places you can't get a 1 bedroom for less then $1000 a month, and a few places where you can't get one for less then $1500.

A normal human should have at least $100 to spend on food a week and be comfortable (That includes eating out/coffee etc). Less then that is certainly possible, but I would not call that living comfortably.

Additional expenses (utilities/cable/internet/transportation etc), is going to be another $200 at least for anyone trying to live fairly comfortably as well.

Say $200 additional for random expenses/fun etc just so all that work your doing is actually worth something and you don't feel like a slave.

So go with the 1k a month for rent, 400 for food, 200 for utilities etc and 200 for spending, and you have a bare minimum of $1800 average.

Divide $1800 by 160 (40 hours a week for 4 weeks) and you end up with about $12/hr.

So the bare minimum should be about 12/hr, although honestly many min wage jobs will not give you 40 hours a week anyway. In some areas you can rent for a bit less, so a $10-11 rate would work, in others you would need more like $15 an hour just to live.

When I was looking for an apartment the best place I found was being leased by this random chinese company and the appartment didn't even have cable wired for $1500/mo.

Housing prices in the area are horrible because of all of the asian immigrants looking for tech jobs. In the morning the bus I take is 50% Indian / Pakistani H1B Software Engineers.

depends where you live. I can speak for Vancouver at least, I made 3k a month before taxes and couldn't afford a studio apartment, even in the suburbs. Good wage there (for an adult) would be at least 50k a year in my opinion. Like $25 an hour.

Well yea that too. But Boston in particular has had a huge surge in Chinese corporations buying out large swaths of housing to flip due to our tech-heavy atmosphere.
