Paired with the whole Tinder success story gimmick, I could see it as a way to troll people who are less successfuly at the sexytimes, by way of "I'm 400 pounds and I'm still getting laid on a regular basis, what's your excuse?". That's about the only reason I could think of to lie about it, though, and given that he could just as easily be accused of lying about Tinder, that seems kinda flimsy.

I am though, in at least I don't derail a topic by posting off-topic personal attack garbage, especially when this is the Internet and it's 100% certain everyone is just trolling each other anyways.

Not when the vast majority of it is a bunch of lies, no. This is just silly, people here are literally debating if someone would intentionally say they were 400 lbs. or not. Go make a separate topic about it if that's what you desire.

It's basically the same thing. California operated for years on the assumption that there'd be enough water, so when climate change reared its ugly head and took away their rainfall, they ended up with a crisis situation. Texas operated for years on the assumption that the levees would keep them above water, so when climate change reared its ugly head and gave them a particularly nasty rain storm, they ended up in a crisis situation.

The moral of the story: the world's changing, and everyone needs to change with it.

Don't forget when Gov. Perry massively slashed money for fighting fires, and then massive wildfires broke out that year.

For Trump in particular, he's just hellbent on repealing everything Obama touched, no matter what it is or how little sense it makes. Any other President would be tarred and feathered for doing what Trump just pulled, but being non-stop awful is basically his MO.

Fake news...
The regulations were only there for NEW structures. It did not affect the Harvey victims one way or another, this is just political posturing in order to attack Trump on the backs of the victims.

It doesn't currently affect them but anything they now build to replace flood damaged structures will directly affect them in future, that was the whole point of the changes.
Anyways, those regulation are dumb because they had to do with climate change, meaning, because of climate change fiction, new infrastructure is harder to be built.

Oh boy. Spoken like a true political and climate scientist... :/
In order to build it, the regulations were removed. But Trump said the infrastructure would be built to the highest standards.

Except for higher standards of flood proofing in what is now known to be a flood prone area, good call.

We now know now that a city that believed it was ready for flooding, wasn't.

This should be an eye opener. How many other cities are vulnerable for heavy storm flooding? Especially those already prone to flooding and coastal.

It's one thing to be ready for flooding. But rainfall that literally causes weather channels to add a new color to indicate the historical rain that occurred in this hurricane is something I can only see as something separate.

Oh are we on topic again?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/08/29/where-harvey-is-hitting-hardest-four-out-of-five-homeowners-lack-flood-insurance/

Regular home insurance covers wind damage, but not flooding. Homeowners have to purchase separate flood insurance policies from the government-run National Flood Insurance Program, which will end in late September unless Congress renews it. In Texas, the average cost for a NFIP plan is $500 a year, but it can rise to more than $2,000 for homes inside a floodplain.

Only 17 percent of homeowners in the eight counties most directly affected by Harvey flood insurance policies, according to a Washington Post analysis of Federal Emergency Management Agency data. When disaster hits, the policies cover up to $250,000 in rebuilding costs and $100,000 to replace personal stuff like TVs and furniture.

Everyone else who loses their home to flooding will be dependent on private charity and government aid, especially grants from Federal Emergency Management Agency.

I don't know if @BTB or any other locals know whether Texas requires homeowners to acquire flood insurance in order to get a mortgage? In Florida, banks won't lend to you without it.

That is wild. Comparing the $500-1,000 cost for insurance to $250,000+ in damages (per household)...yeesh. I'm surprised that it isn't mandated in some way.
