i want to make a beef and call it "gluten-free"

not, like, say it has no gluten, but that's the beers actual name.

and it'll be full of glute

and then we'll make an actual gluten free beer and call it gluten

I wish I could find the image, but there was this collapsible bug net thing you could buy to put over a folding chair. I saw an ad for it with this woman sitting inside it at a children's soccer game, with the sarcastic caption of "here's the one with the kid that has the made-up gluten allergy." It was perfect.

If they care about the amount in the sauce, that's a matter of trying to avoid it altogether, not limit their intake. Even a gluten-rich sauce isn't going to have much.

I am. I have mixed feelings about the fad dieters, on the one hand their foolishness makes it harder for people like me to be taken seriously, but on the other hand, their weird obsession with gluten has made gluten-free food tastier and more widely available.

This is definitely true. A friend of mine was diagnosed with Celiac back before anyone had ever heard of it or 'gluten free' so her only real option was to learn how to make stuff herself. Now almost every restaurant has gluten free options and you can find tons of stuff in grocery stores.

I'm one of those unlucky gluten intolerant people... I hate telling people that I am, too, because of the reputation it's caught from all of those middle age yuppie wives.

If I eat gluten, my stomach hurts all the way up to a bowel movement and then comes the worst part... it feels like a brick trying to force its way out.

Thankfully not Celiac's, but I've got the blood tests telling me it's a gluten intolerance.

Dunno how I got it, honestly. No one in my family has it that we know of. I'm also lactose intolerant and have IBS, guess I really got the short end of the stick lol.

No, South Park, eating gluten doesn't make your dick fly off.

I think a lot of gluten free things taste pretty good. Beer isn't one of them though.

Sake is pretty good though, although I don't know if that is actually gluten free.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/rosspomeroy/2014/05/15/non-celiac-gluten-sensitivity-may-not-exist/#dd0bce9574fc

And if you read further into the article, it basically says that only 1% of the population have celiac disease. Whereas 20X that many people believe they have a gluten intolerance. The rest are basically just victims of a placebo effect.

Everything you buy in America is controlled by trimphurate of Kroger, The UFPA, and The USDA.

Gluten free is just the latest attempt to raise prices on low margin items. Last time it was organic, which tricked you into paying more for an inferior product, while charging producers huge fees and regulations to qualify, thus making money at both ends.

Gluten is an essential protein, organics still use pesticides, and genetically modified foods are safe and beneficial.

It has. When you have no choice but to eat gluten-free, then it doesn't really matter if it tastes like sawdust, right? But now that you have all these people doing it for "health" reasons, who want to have, say, a gluten-free sandwich, gluten-free food companies actually have to try to make their bread appealing, or the "health" people could just decide this is too hard and go buy normal, tasty bread.

As a result, over the last few years the more inedible bread brands have slowly been disappearing, and there's more than one that actually taste good!

Stuff like ready-made gluten-free desserts have been popping up as well. And flour mixes that you can swap 1:1 for wheat flour (instead of having to buy like five different kinds of flour to mix up and pray it works). Lots of nice little things like that.
