So if it's 100 years later, there has been substantial cultural change and it's a different group of people even without a foreign invader. And it's not common in history for victors of war (internal or external) to tear down monuments from the defeated country's history from BEFORE the conflict that led to the war. Such actions are usually remembered as barbaric...
