The downside here is that the lesson Trump will take from the episode is that he can beat North Korea just by constantly upping the intensity of his rhetoric, and I feel like at some point that's not going to work out well for anyone.

This isn't quite what you asked for, you wanted to get a rundown of the people who'd call themselves Nazis today. Some are neo Nazis and that's a pretty straightforward one - stormfront. Very little nuance needed there and not much difference. They didn't grow in the same environment but support the same ideology.

Should be on my main tomorrow and can get into this and going into detail of this rally then (also known as your continued asking me of why I say protesting this one was dumb). The two can fit together, I think.

I am exhausted at the amount of right wingers who defend Nazis because they're afraid that the left will treat them badly by associating them with Nazis even when they aren't.

It's almost like the best way to avoid being associated with Nazis is to whole-heartedly condemn them and drive them out of society before they do their best to try to live up to the message they were chanting at the rally.

there's a number of statues of communist leads scattered across the US. the Lenin one in Seattle was pointed out on Saturday so it's not surprising that's being pushed, was the logical call really. hating commies is one thing the right can definitely unite against.

but most would probably want to kick out any nazis since they're poison to any cause.

No, communism is absolutely a philosophy based on hate. The idea is fundamentally built on terrorism and tyranny. Marx specifically referred to the process needed to create a communist society as "revolutionary terror" and always advocated that the elite few needed to enforce their will on the rest as violently as necessary. There's a reason communism always works out the way it does - it's not just that its process is inherently corrupting to the ones leading it, it's a philosophy that actively embraces that very corruption.

I know there's a pretty well known one in Seattle. But it's a real shame if we're really going to go on a national spree of tearing down statues.

I'd support a federal law banning the removal or vandalism of public monuments erected prior to.....2017, without either a court order finding the monument was illegal/unconstitutional in the first place, or the approval of Congress. Kind of hard to shoehorn it under the Commerce Clause but you can argue that all public monuments affect interstate tourism and therefore commerce.
