Really wish there was birth control for men other than a damn condom. If they found a pill that could render sperm impotent temporarily then be fertile again when they do want kids, how many men do you think would jump on that shit? All we have is condoms and vasectomies essentially. One is basically a glove that can break or be faulty or a permanent solution.

Men and women express similar views on abortion; 59% of women say it should be legal in all or most cases, as do 55% of men.

To tell you the truth it might won't be. It will be such a foreign an unnatural concept for a man to be pregnant. They'd be in a strange situation. With all the fuss, I doubt the majority of people would want men to start getting pregnant and bearing children. No need to go into details as to how. However, you make it seems as though men will be inhuman. They might be told they need to suck it up, discomfort, pain and all.

I agree. If men could get pregnant the world and how everyone thinks & does things would be too different to assume this.

Now if something came out that from now on men could get pregnant then maybe you could make this argument.

If men got pregnant instead of women, the entire social eynamic would have shifted and men would have been the ones that needesto be "protected" since that would make them more valuable in ancestral times.

If they could both get pregnant, society would likewise look very different, most likely.

At any rate, it's still a dumb and dishonest tactic to act like abortion issue is about surpressing women when many women are pro-life and these people genuinely believe that people are murdering babies (hypocrites excluded, obviously). There will still be incredible debate on this issue if the people in charge were the ones that carried the babies.

I don't agree because most of the pro-choice stances are not based on an appeal to emotion. The large portion of the pro-choice stance is that you are removing the rights of a viable person and passing them to a non-viable fetus. That doesn't suddenly change with genders.

I'd like to think people have that level of integrity, but I can't. Too often in the left I've seen a sense of right and wrong come down to if it's the privileged or under privileged harmed. Hell, this thread is based on the assumption that pro life morality is only due to not having to deal with the consequences of the position. I postulate if pro life could be tossed out so casually, then the opposite is true. That pro-choice is only a position because it impacts " under privileged" women instead of"privileged" men, and if that were reversed the left would treat is like they do any other disadvantaged creature and demand it's protection at all costs.

I don't think it's wrong to say that some would do this out of identity politics and not because of what is objective. Others, will stick with the objective reasoning.

All in all, people suck? I think we can agree on that.

True enough. I've always been down on the right, but have been souring on the left a lot in recent years. When was the lat time you saw them fight for a position or solution that truly put themselves in the more inconvenienced position?
