YO DANNY PHANTOM HE WAS JUST 14 WHEN HIS PARENTS BUILT A VERY STRANGE MACHINE IT WAS DESIGNED TO VIEW A WORLD UNSEEN WHEN IT DIDN'T QUITE WORKS HIS FOLKS THEY JUST QUIT THEN DANNY TOOK A LOOK INSIDE OF IT THERE WAS A GREAT BIG FLASH EVERYTHING JUST CHANGED HIS MOLECULES GOT ALL REARRANGED phantom phantom WHEN HE FIRST WOKE UP HE REALIZED HE HAD SNOW WHITE HAIR AND GLOWING GREEN EYES HE COULD WALK THROUGH WALLS DISAPPEAR AND FLY HE WAS MUCH MORE UNIQUE THAN THE OTHER GUY IT WAS THEN THAT HE KNEW WHAT HE HAD TO DO HE HAD TO STOP ALL THE GHOSTS THAT WERE COMIN THROUGH HE'S HERE TO FIGHT FOR YOU GONNA CATCH 'EM ALL CAUSE HE'S DANNY PHANTOM Over a decade later I still remember the theme song word for word (and props to Guy Moon; there are very few theme songs that describe their shows as accurately as this one). This show was just awesome all the way through. Great mix of enemies (most of which were humorous; some of which were humorous AND badass). Box Ghost was an excellent recurring joke, and Danny was a surprisingly compelling hero (at times, he was just a bratty teen, but I actually really enjoyed watching him progress as a hero. It was just altogether a super enjoyable show. I went back a few years ago when it was on Netflix to see if it still held up, and immediately I got hooked all over again. Also, Butch Hartman is just a great person. --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... Copied to Clipboard!

8. Lost Seen: All of it Favorite character: Hurley Lost is tricky to place. I got into the show super late (again, thanks to Netflix). As in, the entire show had been long-finished before I ever started it. But when I finally did sit down to watch with my girlfriend, we ended up watching it for a solid like 9 hours straight. We were both immediately hooked, and made it a point to watch the entire series together over the course of about a month. Now I'll admit, it's got some drastic quality shifts. Finally caught up. Arrested Development too low, Heroes too high, Scrubs should have ended at 5 seasons for immortal status.
Also glad someone likes That '70s Show this much on here; I burned through the series on Netflix five years ago and enjoyed the majority of it. Even a couple season 8 episodes were good, even if the show was on its final leg at that point. --- Formerly known as Raven 2, currently losing to BKSheikah http://card.psnprofiles.com/1/ZeroSignal620.png ... I really enjoy YGO! too and I can rewatch many episodes nearly without irony even today. Like DBZ, its dubbing and translation issues are easily a feature and not a bug. Chibi Yugi/Yami Yugi/Seto Kaiba have amazing voice actors, while almost every other good guy - whose presence in the anime is nearly inexplicable, given that their main thematic resonance comes from "Season 0" of the manga - sounds awful.
The show also has surprisingly great villains for how bad its cast is. Pegasus, Marik, and Favorite duels? I thought Season 1 was hysterical because of the obvious lack of cohesive rules. The later seasons' combos were inefficient (using tons of cards/illegal ploys), but the rules actually made sense, and by the final duel, I could actually predict almost every play that happened because it made so much sense - and I still loved it. --- yet all sailors of all sorts are more or less capricious and unreliable - they live in the varying outer weather, and they inhale its fickleness ... As someone who's familiar with the actual card game Yugioh, the cartoon's constant use of made up card effects for the sake of drama was too grating for me to ever get into the show in a non-ironic manner. I mean I don't think I'd ever get into it regardless, as it's not like I even liked the card game, but it still rubs me the wrong way out of the gates.

Yeah, when i compared the first seasons of Vanguard to Yugioh, i found it really refreshing that I could say to learn the absolute basics of Vanguard, all you have to do is watch the show, rather than the continuous dissonance between yugioh game rules, and yugioh tv game rules... i mean how many seasons did it take to get the hp between tv and game to match?

7. Rick and Morty Seen: All of it, most of it multiple times Favorite character: Bird Person I mostly stopped watching Adult Swim a while back. I haven't had cable in years, so I kind of dropped all Adult Swim shows from then on. When I heard about Rick and Morty, I didn't know what channel it was from or much about it, aside from the fact that it was supposedly one of the funniest animated shows out there. And holy fuck was that a deserved claim, because Harmon and Roilland are one of the most fantastic teams animated TV has ever seen. The animation almost threw me off at first; it's a little sloppy and simple, but it didn't take long for that to not matter at all once I got into the show, because it's outrageously hilarious (and for what it's worth, the animation definitely improves over time). So much happens in every episode that every single one ends up being memorable; even the weaker episodes are too good to call filler. I mean, hell, people who haven't ever seen the series probably know who Mr. Meeseeks is, despite being a tiny one-off character in the series. It created a sensation off a two-decade old fast food sauce. The writing is some of the most intelligent in animated comedy, which is almost hard to notice when you're watching a child going on a shooting spree or the world transforming into weird insect monsters. --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... 6. Breaking Bad Seen: All of it, twice Favorite character: Any one of Walt/Jesse/Gus could take this It shouldn't be any surprise this is here. If anything, it might be surprising that it's this low. Because this show is so universally seen as incredible that 6th place seems too low for it. Thrilling action, excellent villains, and well-written flawed protagonists only just contribute to a show that ultimately earns this spot for having some of the most extraordinary performances, direction and cinematography I've ever seen not just on television but from visual media, hands down. But I'm preaching to the choir here; B8 loves Breaking Bad, and for good reason. --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... 5. Archer Favorite character: Sterling Archer Seen: All of it, at least twice Rick and Morty makes a close run, but I stand by the opinion that Archer is definitely the best of adult animation. Jon Benjamin absolutely nails it as the lead, supported by an all-star cast (Judy Greer as Cheryl, Amber Nash as Oam and Lucky Yates as Krieger are all particularly impressive, even if nobody ultimately comes close to Archer himself). It manages to combine workplace comedy with action comedy in a way I never knew I wanted before Archer arrived. The art style is fantastic and unique (something about the thick outlines and dynamic coloring makes for some downright gorgeous animation, especially in the action sequences). The quotes are catchy (I still say "DANGER ZONE" in my daily life), the characters are enjoyable, and the fight scenes are shockingly impressive. It plays into every action hero trope and they only emphasize the humor. Archer mimics the unbelievable alcohol consumption and shocking survivability of characters like James Bond, but instead of glossing over them, it tackles them head on, with Archer almost dying constantly, often by his own dumb mistakes. Still, he's incredible badass, as is much of the main cast (except Cyril, he's terrible, but intentionally so). --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... 4. Avatar: The Last Airbender Seen: All of it, twice Favorite character: Toph Beifong (Iroh comes close) And Avatar takes #1 in animation! Honestly, it shouldn't be too surprising. This is the show that connects kids shows to adults shows in my opinion, having something for viewers of any age. Shockingly heavy themes for a kids show, but with plenty of fun and wit mixed in to make the show easily accessible. The two most badass people on the show are a young blind girl and an tea-loving old man, which only drives in how incredibly this show stands out from others of its type. It's got the action, the heart, the humor. In only three seasons it manages to create and establish a fictional world full of deep and enticing lore fleshed out enough to rival big screen blockbusters like Harry Potter. It handles its subject matter with a shocking level of maturity, far more than I expected when I originally watched it as a kid, and that led to my rewatch as an adult being even more enjoyable than the initial run. And then you get episodes like Tales of Ba Sing Se, delivering emotion so powerfully and effectively that most "adult" shows never come close to. It is readily apparent how much care and work was put into perfecting the series; so much so that it's easy to put it this high. --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... Archer's one of those shows where I enjoy it, a lot even, but I can't watch all that much of it at once. Something about the particular blend of stupid comedy on that show grates on me after a while. Just watch an episode or two a day and I'm good-- could never ever marathon it though.
And yeah Avatar really surprised me. I sorta watched a few episodes of it assuming I wouldn't like it just to "give it a shot" but it ended up really good. I probably wouldn't rate it quite this high, as to me it's basically like a westernized anime in quality, which while I'm not a total weeaboo gives it a lot of competition among just animated shows, never mind the live action, but it's really good. --- No problem! 3. Fargo Seen: All 3 seasons Favorite characters: S1: Lorne Malvo S2: Hanzee Dent S3: Nikki Swango Making a tv show based on a movie is a risky venture. Unless it's a kids movie, you're going to come under a LOT of criticism, especially if you're working off a movie as acclaimed as Fargo. Now I'm not only a huge Fargo fan (it ranks among my favorite movies ever), I'm a huge fan of everything Coen Bros. That being said, I went into this with a lot of hesitation. I was excited, but assumed there was no way the show could ever really live up to the movie. But holy shit did this show shatter my expectations tenfold. The cinematography is fucking phenomenal (even better than the top 2 ranked shows), to the point where I honestly would've believed the show was made by the Coen Bros. themselves. The lighting, the sound design, the camera work, the framing. Noah Hawley is a master, delivering television so expertly and prescisely crafted that it went above and beyond what I though I could reasonably expect from television. Aside from that, you've got dark, gripping stories full of complicated and memorable characters, more than sufficient to do the original film justice (and at times, possibly even surpass it). --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... 2. Community Seen: All of it, most of it twice, some of it more Favorite character: Abed Nadir If I care enough about a show to make a ranking of every character, then clearly it's going to do well here. Community has it's ups and downs (largely due to cast dropping in and out, and the absence of Dan Harmon for a season) but even at it's worst, Community is incredible. Hope you like meta humor, because there's a shit ton of it to go around here, and I LOVE it. The subtle and not-so-subtle inside jokes, the jokes with insanely drawn out payoff, the ways characters play off each other and emphasize each other's flaws. The way the show bends its structure to mimic the style of a Claymation Christmas special, or a musical, or an 8-bit game, or a D&D game, or a giant game of The Floor Is Lava. The way characters will directly call out the fact that they're in a bottle episode. I fucking love it. And at the center of it all is Abed, a character that's always just clicked with me, because essentially, the way he views the world through a lens of film and TV, constantly referencing things at sometimes clever and sometimes inappropriate times; it's super relateable, and makes for a lot of hilarious fun. --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... I really should watch Game of Thrones. I watched the first half of the first season and it wasn't even bad, kinda good-- but it's just such a daunting thing to approach to get into that I've never bothered. Just a large entry barrier.
The fanbase talking about it probably hurts in this-- like I know people who watch it, and they're like talking to each other and then turn to me and are like "oh I'll shut up and I don't wanna spoil anything" and I'm like "I'm going to forget this tangled mess of character relationships between random names you're talking about way before I ever watch it so don't mind me" --- No problem! when a show gets as big as game of thrones or breaking bad or lost, it becomes hard for me to separate out how much enjoyment i get from the show versus how much i get from the community i discuss it with. if i were a more casual watcher of it i wouldn't get nearly as much out of it, that's for sure - i play many games involving the IP, i make lists about the show, i'm even modding a fantasy league for S7. it's the last 'monoculture' show of TV and just following it has giant social capital, i think.

I didn't get that feeling with Breaking Bad. I watched it after it finished, and it always came off as basically just a normal show that got a following to me.
Lost though yeah, similar idea. Hell even similar reaction from me upon watching about half the first season. Neither show was bad, both watchable. It's slightly different in that with Game of Thrones it's "this is decent I kinda wanna get around to watching this at some point" and I never quite do, whereas with Lost it's more "this isn't really working for me and probably isn't worth it so I'm not going to bother." Forgotten shows tiny write-ups:
22. Ed, Edd n Eddy - Cartoon that's probably objectively way less funny than I think it is 34. BoJack Horseman - Stupid show about talking animals that's WAY heavier than I was prepared for 36. American Gods - Only 8 episodes so far, but it's extremely enticing and I'm hyped for more 37. Atlanta - Donald Glover leaves Community for another excellent, completely different experience 87. Sgt. Frog - One of the first anime I watched on my own; really funny (but sub loses its charm) 91. Spaced - Simon Pegg being British and funny: the show 102. Santa Clarita Diet - Wacky zombie show that's surprisingly charming 119. ChalkZone - Super creative; would be cool to see it brought back 132. GLOW - Short Netflix original; fun but underutilizes its potential 145. Invader Zim - Funny enough kids show that was overrated upon being cancelled 156. All That - Pretty decent kids sketch show; sort of like SNL Lite 181. Zoom - Show I never would've seen if not for girlfriend's nostalgia; didn't particularly need to see 185. What’s New Scooby Doo? 186. Scooby Doo, Where Are You? 187. A Pup Named Scooby Doo - It's all Scooby Doo. I was never a big fan, and preferred the movies as a kid 192. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp - Movie spin-off that completely misses what made the original so funny 207. Sid the Science Kid - Hilariously bad little kids show, worth watching for the laughs 217. Mind of Mencia - Carlos Mencia being not funny --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... Copied to Clipboard!

Good job and thanks for sharing this with us.
Some interesting high end shows there with a think more than a hint of retro bias I feel. Still great list and great project. --- User ID: 4002777 ... Copied to Clipboard!

more than a hint of retro bias I feel oh absolutely, can't even deny that, but for what it's worth, all the top tier ones I did rewatch as an adult, and they held up but thank you! --- Khal Kirby, warlord of the Super Star Khalasar PSN/Steam: CheddarBBQ http://i.imgur.com/sRNNOSP.png ... Seems weird to me to have such a big gap between Community and Parks and Rec.
I agree that Burt and Virginia are one of the best sitcom couples. So refreshing to have a couple that just genuinely loves each other, without fighting or yelling or nagging at each other all the time. --- BK_Sheikah?
