That Melania joke is good partly because it's self-deprecating and shows a little bit of humility (albeit on behalf of his wife, but she was part of his campaign so). Admirable qualities in the right doses. So much of Trump's content lacks those qualities though. Or really any positive qualities.

Iirc if you control for incumbency advantages etc, voting for the ACA caused House members to lose something like 8 points in 2010 (not sure about the exact number, but I'm almost positive it was in the high single digits).

Given that this is taking away health care instead of giving it, I'd believe an 11 point jump here.

You guys are forgetting that like 3 minutes later in this same speech, he goes nuts attacking Hillary, it's not funny at all, even if you hate Hillary, and the crowd boos the shit out of him.

There's a pretty hilarious gif of the guy to the right laughing and then going straight into a "o_o" face when Trump takes it too far.

Complaining that people don't appreciate his one joke enough is bizarre. It was an entire comedy routine and that was one bit of the act. It was a bit that was actually well received (even if plagiarized) so I don't get why Ulti's so obsessed with it. Nobody complains about the Melania joke or anything, it was the rest of the night he bombed.

So when he takes health care away from millions of americans, takes heat away from thousands, denies food to many more all so he can fund a bigger military and tax cuts for his buddies, all the news will be able to talk about is his latest tweet. of course he does. this is entirely a distraction AND it's bait to kill the narrative of him being mentally unfit. and it's not like this is some calculated strategy either, he constantly seeks affirmation, attention, and adoration. he just naturally knows how to get both after years of working in industries where that gets you ahead. it's why he's a great campaigner, though a shit boss.

he just also knows that he can overlap that with soaking up media airtime that takes away from issues he doesn't want attention given to.

hey, i already said i've personally never heard of anyone using the phrase "i'm speaking with [insert country]" and that that could be caused by the language barrier. if it's a totally normal phrase i'm fine with it, sure. (if it is a language barrier thing that doesn't explain why people are shitting on trump for using the phrase in the twitter reactions, though, unless they're all people who aren't native english speakers as well.)

also, nobody is answering the question i asked in post #92. if it's shorthand then what is it shorthand for?
