Yes, I think fast food is a blight on humanity that needs to be wiped out. We are taking perfectly good fresh food, over processing it then mix it with preservatives and fillers. There's nothing good about it.

Where? Apples are sold by the pound. Most apples are like $1.50 a lb or less and a lb is usually 4-6 apples.

That's not even remotely true, unless you're counting chips bought in bulk and averaging the cost. Otherwise, the cheapest bags of chips I see are at least $1, and the cheapest apples I see are $0.33. Sunny is still pretty off-base with his belief that healthy food costs less though

Also, I made shredded chicken today in part because of this topic

Eating healthy is not expensive. You can easily find cheap produce and or purchase staples in bulk. My grocery bill is like $40 a week or less for breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks by meal planning and prepping.

I don't entirely disagree, but I find the issue lies with keeping that stuff. Like yeah, it seems pretty cheap on the surface, but I end up having to throw so much of it away because I can't use it up fast enough that I question if it is really better in the long run. Meal planning is probably a good idea, but some people don't want to eat the same stuff all week long.

regional differences are a thing, but apples here, right now, are about $2 a pound, which is about 2-3 apples. unless you get those tiny lil fuji apples

hell, those weird hybrid ones like honeycrisp. those things are like $5 a pound

We spend $100 a week for both my boyfriend and me. He eats around 3500 a calories a day. No one said anything about "just produce." Meal planning can save you a ton of money. Eating healthy doesn't need to be any more expensive than eating unhealthy.

And this has nothing to do with cost. There are a lot of excuses people make to eat unhealthy that ultimately don't boil down to money.

Plus people have a misconception about what eating "healthy" even is. Someone can buy all the same shit they already do just actually eat it in moderation instead of eating excessively. That'll actually save you money too because you're not eating a whole bag of chips in one freaking sitting.

Well, that's why I was saying time management had a lot to do with it. I basically work a job and a half so the last thing I ever feel like doing is prepping for meals so eating healthy for me would definitely be costly

Time management has nothing to do with the argument it's too expensive. Once someone debunks it's too expensive the next argument is always "I don't have time." If you don't have thirty minutes on a Sunday to plan your groceries I don't know what to tell you. That's your personal choice but it doesn't make eating healthy inaccessible. It makes it not a priority for you.

I mean, it's not wrong though either. For instance, grass fed beef is gonna cost you more than regular. Ramen and similar cheap items are simply gonna cost less. I don't stoop as low as eating ramen generally but still... You can definitely eat cheaper buying garbage food. If you want quality ingredients they will simply cost more
