What is your opinion on eldrazi, power wise? Do you think they're op? Are the new iteration of them with wastes any better than the old versions?

The old Eldrazi are fine if you're actually hardcasting them, but, uh...
mXyupD1

Old Emrakul in particular should not have had pro-colored-spells. It needed better ways to stop at instant speed.

The Oath Eldrazi (Thought-Knot Seer and Reality Smasher in particular) are waaaaay too pushed in Modern and Eternal formats because they abuse cards that were designed only with the big fast originals in mind. Eldritch Moon Eldrazi were pretty sweet though! I'm still mad they banned New Emrakul.

Like standard is the most normal format right? Vintage is the beta and alpha shit that you can't find anywhere and stuff.

Standard is where you start, yeah. Let's talk about this on Discord; there's a lot to say that is beyond my typing capability on mobile.

I am aware! I have a couple of decks for it, even! I'm just saying I hope it "makes it" as in "remains profitable enough that they continue to print it for us" cause yeah I know in Japan the thing has had like 5 years of cards or something-- would be nice to see it last that long here.

Cause man the things are kinda rare as is-- I'm assuming it's a Wii kinda thing where they just have been underproducing (can't imagine the costs are too high they don't even need to hire artists or anything, just gotta localize) but it's kinda disconcerting.

One deck style i won a fairly big tournament involved getting saprolings/creature tokens out and cards to multiply how many creature tokens you get to place on the board (forest land type). Are any modern decks similar to this style? I had so much fun with that deck.

Token-spam decks aren't centered in Green anymore, they tend to be Black-White. BW Tokens is a solid tier-2 deck in Modern. It doesn't use any doublers though, they're way too slow.

I missed this one.

I started playing in Odyssey with friends from Boy Scouts, but I didn't start really playing until Alara block. I think my favorite block was original Zendikar block. Every set was pretty cool, and Rise of the Eldrazi remains the greatest non-Masters draft format ever.

(Greatest single set is original Innistrad, but good lord the other sets in that block were bad.)

I mean, it depends on what you mean by "THE card."

The rarest and most expensive card? Yes it is still this.

The most powerful card? No. It's absurdly powerful, but it was never the most powerful card even in alpha.

A relevant card? Not really. It's still relevant in Vintage, but that format has been on life suppprt for a decade.

I mean, Lotus is in the top three for most powerful cards ever. If you exclude cards that aren't legal in any format, it's a dead heat between Lotus and Ancestral.

Its only legal in vintage. The formats are Standard, which are just the latest few sets, modern, which is everything back up to a certain set (8th edition I believe) and onward, legacy, which is all sets but with a banlist, and vintage, which is all sets no banlist.

Black lotus was in the very first set, so it's only even applicable to legacy and vintage. It's banned in legacy, therefore vintage.

Well, the meme answer is that the best deck in Legacy is Doomsday Combo, but there are only 5 people on Earth good enough to pilot it. It's too complicated even to explain very well, and execution of it is completely contextual... I've never seen it done well personally.

Out of decks I've seen/played, I would say Legacy Storm is the toughest. It's a very complex set of decision trees to win, especially against other blue decks packing Force of Will, Flusterstorm, and Stifle. At any given point in the execution, there are about 8 different things you can do, and only one of them is right. You have to manage mana, graveyard cards, life total, sequencing... and the deck has no "plan B" by design. There's a reason people don't play it at huge tournaments because you just burn out so quickly.

I'd say Sol Ring is in this discussion too, but IMO Lotus is 100% the most powerful because it goes into just about ANY deck, not just blue (Ancestral) or artifact-based (Sol).

In Vintage Cube it's widely considered the best firstpick, even over any of the Power 9. Not to mention that it breaks EDH games in half when someone leads with it into another mana rock and is jamming their 5 drops on turn 2.

Sol Ring is really nice because it gives you +1 mana the turn you play it, much like the Moxes, but also gives you +2 in following turns to their +1. On occasion you may really need the color first turn but yeah overall I think it's probably better than a Mox.
