Long list of problems: 1) Like MvDK said, every time somebody quotes a mention, you get another notification even if you aren't necessarily involved in that conversation any more. 2) There's no way to specifically disable the function if you don't want to use it or settings to have it be friends-only, etc, which would make it less abusable. Even better would be an option to disable it from certain people because, other than the troll alts who abuse it, you have other people who over-use it for purposeful aggravation. 3) Not sure if its fixed, but you used to get empty-tags when somebody on your ignore list mentions you. (ie, similar to getting a notification when an ignored person posts in one of your topics or tagged topics.) 4) The reporting system for it is just lousy. It means that mods are unlikely to act except in issues of extremely blatant abuse, like repeated posts that only have a mention in them or mention-deletes (because even after a post is deleted, it still shows up in your mentions). I've somewhat gone the same way since I'm less likely to bother responding quickly to a topic where I've been tagged and, in general, if I'm halfway interested in a topic I usually track it anyway; granted, because I wind up tracking quite a few, I don't always wind up getting back to them.
