A shame, just when I decided on getting one. I thought waiting would mean a better model with more battery life (like the psp 3000) but it seems Vita is no more. And it's such a nifty looking handheld quite frankly, it just has no games...

It still had a ton of potential. But I think the smartphone generation killed it. 3ds only gets by because it has titles that will always sell no matter what.

It's 6 years old this year and never sold well in the western market, so yeah. Doesn't retroactively delete everything in its library though so I don't know why that matters.

The 3DS got by because it knew it was a handheld and did literally everything that a handheld should've done. Vita was pretending to be a home console and was releasing games that were way more than it could handle and would be very short and non-complex experience. The developmental cycle also seemed to take way longer than its direct competitor who was pumping out games really quickly.

They were also seriously forcing the PS3/4 integration, which only made Vita a glorified controller.

Sure, if smartphones didn't push games, maybe it stood a chance, but face it, it was still gonna be a mediocre console in terms of sales

I got mine for free with gravity rush and soul sacrifice when I bought my PS4.
I probably never would have bought it otherwise and I love it though.

Yeah this whole thing where they make a version of the game on ps4 and vita, seems pointless. If there's a console version, most people are just gonna opt for the console, and the people who are going to buy the handheld version are a much smaller market than say 10-15 years ago.

I wanted Vita exclusive games, but when I find out the games I'm somewhat interested in are already on ps4, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a handheld.

I would just recommend getting a PS TV for about $30 but those are getting rare too

At one point Sam's dropped the original OLED to $99.99 in an attempt to purge their stock.

Sony really should've dumped the proprietary bs and released a micro-sd version.

It's just that I thought waiting before getting one would mean I'd get the latest model like the vita 3000 or something, maybe an excellent bundle, but this time it seems waiting has just made the handheld no longer in stock. I don't even have the luxury of choosing colors, like I did with the psp (of which there were quite a few)

It's just a shame that it's so unpopular, because regardless of propriety memory cards, there should still be a handheld gaming market and one that has competition besides giants Nintendo so both companies keep on their toes to make great products and games.

Those dumb memory cards help it die . I mean I wanted a game or two but I wasn't going to pay all that money just to have a cards so I can spent more money on a game .

Thing is I like rpgs, but not those garbage anime loli giant rectangle-oval irises they call eyes, I want to play an rpg with actual quality.

Plus if there had been more japanese support, like a devil may cry for vita or a resident evil for vita... who knows. Who knows. Sony didn't have release a ratchet and clank.

What would have REALLY helped would have been a metal gear solid for Vita. I didn't buy a psp until the Peace Walker bundle.
