Because accusing Hillary Clinton of murdering Seth Rich has the effect of turning Hillary Clinton into an enemy. Not a political opponent. An enemy.

If you're a politician, and the causes you're championing don’t serve the interests of your supporters, then your supporters probably aren't going to support you for very long. In that case, you can either change your position on the issues — OR, you can portray yourself as defending your supporters from "enemies" in order to deflect responsibility.

It was the same for Bill Clinton, when right wing media portrayed him as the mastermind behind Vince Foster's death and God knows how many other people's. A self-serving murderer, and an enemy.

It is the same way in Russia. Putin has been in absolute control of Russia for 17 years. The country is crumbling. But it cannot be Putin's fault. So all the country’s problems are blamed on "enemies," inside and out. (The parallel is perhaps not surprising, as the GOP has been following a similar tack to Putin's Russia for a long time now.)

Trump, his supporters, and the GOP writ large can never stop attacking Hillary Clinton (or Bill, or Obama, etc.) because they can never fulfill their promises to make things better. They will do everything they can do to portray Clinton et al. as evildoers, sellouts, and *enemies*, because that is how they get people to support them. Thus, it is for political gain.

Trumpeting the Seth Rich "story" also has direct political gain by subverting the actual facts of the Russia-DNC hack. Because if Seth Rich was the leaker, that means the DNC leaks didn't come from Russia. And if Russia wasn't behind the leaks, that means there was nothing for the campaign to collude with Russia ABOUT. Therefore, sowing doubt in the minds of guillible Trump loyalists also serves Trump's political gain.

I don't know enough about computer stuff to say whether that checks out, but why would the DNC fake a Russian hack of themselves during an election?

The metadata shows that the files were edited on July 15, one day after the DNC announced their discovery of being hacked. They knew the information was going to reach WikiLeaks anyway, so they edited them to make it look like it was done by Russians. It was damage control.

That is deductively, assertively absurd.

If the hack occured on the 13th or 14th, what would have occured is the hackers would have download the database of information as it was on the 13/14th to their computer. Any changes made to the documents after that on the DNC server would not be reflected on the documents that were leaked to Wikileaks.

It is literally, conclusively illogical.

College, while great for many people like you and me, isn't always best for everyone. In no way does it determine whether someone has developed/learned critical thinking skills. Those skills can be learned in a variety of ways/careers throughout life. I hardly believe it is exclusive to College. Doesn't hurt to have the College degree, obviously.
