No that was 2012 and 2014, which I don't know how you are combining.

2013 is when Bryan lost the feud with Orton and Cena beat ADR for WHC

And then the next night they started the build to ORTON VS BIG SHOW to blow off the angle where Big Show's strip mall went out of business and Triple H bought his house.

Big Show got a title shot as a lawsuit settlement

What a babyface

I honestly don't get how Bryan losing the feud to Orton could be such a killer

Like Bryan getting his moment at WM instead of at HiaC was way better.

Yeah it's obviously not like I never watched again. They've done some great stuff! They just lost me as an unconditional defense force member that night.

Bryan lost the feud with The Authority that night. That was unthinkable. And then 3 months of unrelated Wyatt garbage.

Then the fans and Punk combined forced them into the WM build starting the night after the Rumble. The WM build and payoff was great. A+

The Raw after WM 30 was the most optimistic I've ever felt about wrestling.

Then the Kane feud happened, and the Shield broke up, and Cesaro was buried, and Cena got the title back, and the world refused to change.

Now this is sort of due to outside circumstances, but in the end Bryan only had the one night of true success against the Authority. He lost to them at every turn in the fall, he lost to them in the Chamber, and then in kayfabe Demon Kane proved how fragile he was and broke him to the point he surrendered the title.

He never got revenge during the 4 month period he was back either.

And as for Cena getting the title, that was only for like two months and had one succesful defence before getting Rekt @ SS.

Hey, I'm listening to podcast from Tuesday, and Meltz tells this story from a book about Vince McMahon that really has to be heard to be believed. It essentially ends with Vince admitting he committed at least a misdemeanor and probably a felony in front of Congress and using that as a defense against an article Dave wrote about wrestlers dying young.

I never once got the impression that it was over at that point. It wasn't anywhere near a decisive enough finish. He was pinned after HBK's Superkick!

I guess that's the disconnect. I thought Bryan would win that going in, so I was surprised, but my immediate reaction was "there's a larger payoff here" not "feud over".

I mean, the reality is that if the end goal was "Bryan triumphs over the Authority at WM" they sure took a fucked up way from Summerslam to get there.

Like having him win the title again.
Or cramming in a Big Show storyline.
Or a title-unification plot.

Like the real story should have been Bryan working his way up and past the Authority underlings, win the RR (despite being the 1st or 2nd entrant), take down HHH at the EC to keep his spot, and finally triumph over Orton at WM.

what
the only reason why it worked is because a man literally left the company.

your immediate reaction of "there's a larger payoff" was wrong - there wasn't one. there was nothing planned for it. we happened to get one but it took one of their top guys leaving the company to make it happen.

Oh man, could you imagine how bad the reaction for WM30 COULD have been had Punk not quit and WWE chose to stick with their gut? We could've literally seen Sheamus beat Bryan, Punk job to Triple H, the streak ending, and "babyface" Batista overcoming Orton for the title to "send the fans home happy".

A couple of comments as Im watching

- I am a bit burnt out on the "these guys are former friends" thing. Its not a big tone of the match, but we have it dominantly with KO and Sami, and then him and Jericho, and then Kendrick and Perkins, and then Neville and Swann. Like we need some breathing room.

-Bate has a HELL of a look. He's a hybrid between Angle, and Bryan, and his physique is great. And he's only 20? This dude is money.

-For guys this young why isnt there a more experienced ref there?

-Ugly bump at the end, but hell of a finisher by dunn

I don't think Punk loses to HHH. Punk I think even said he was going over in the podcast.

Plans can always change, so while they may have penciled him to go over at that time, the result could easily change up to or on the day of the show.

A while back MWC asked if anyone besides Rock won a world title using multiple winning moves. Example...

Rock
Sharpshooter (SvS 98)
People's Elbow (Backlash 00)
Rock Bottom (King of the Ring 00)
Roll up (Raw, November 2001)

I can officially confirm now that The Undertaker DID win World titles also with 4 different moves. I had completely had one ppv not on my mind when the subject was brought up

Tombstone (WrestleMania 13)
Roll up (Over the Edge 99)
Chokeslam (Judgment Day 02)
Hell's Gate (WrestleMania 24)
