Microsoft is leaky this morning. Forza 7 screens and date (early October), Ori & the Willow of the Wisp screens, Keighley announcing (predicting?) a $500 Scorpio price.

that's where I'm at with both Sony and Microsoft. There just aren't enough exclusives to keep me with either company

More like, the limit of the current one.

So one could totally think, why buy this, if just a couple of years down the line the next gen will be announced at a more competitive price point.


Unless PS5 is a pipedream and this incremental upgrade system is the new way forward.

Not good, because of VAT.

Just add 20% to whatever the USD price is. The UK I believe is MS' top market in europe, PS3 still largely outdid the 360 over here even with the strong UK market.

So I don't really see this doing anything, which sucks cos Sony won't feel pressure to drop prices on stuff.

This would put the Xbox Scorpio at £470, Amazon lists the basic 500gb PS4 at £218.

For a CoD/FIFA box, you don't need all these high specs, you just need something that'll allow you to score a bunch of goals or kill a bunch of dudes.

I'm just not convinced Forza is going to be enough, when Gran Turismo still is worth something in Europe.

this is something lost on a lot of people, I think. GT is still huge. The games stemming from the development of GT5 alone (so GT5 Prologue, GT5, and GT PSP) outsold the Forza franchise until the release of FM6. Even the botched release of GT6 sold better than any Forza game ever.

Sincerely hope this is the case, really feels like a win-win. Development won't be held back by consoles (as much) anymore, and people who don't care about performance/graphics can sit happily on their older machines.

E3 is in a couple hours, so here's a quick list of the 10 games I want to see most this week:

Below: one look at a screenshot of this game was enough to sell me. I just need to see this still exists. It's been pushed, and pushed, and pushed, but I'm still here, waiting for a date. Don't break my heart, Capy.

XCOM 2 Expansion: what does this look like? Is it about that other alien menace humanity isn't prepared for? Does it tease Terror from the Deep?

New Game from Brothers Dev: We'll see this today. I want to be surprised. Brothers is a very poignant and thoughtful game, with an interesting play mechanic, and I'll be there for their next game.

State of Decay 2, Ori 2: I think I'm okay with these games if they're just the same experience, but built out a bit more and with some QOL changes? Exciting, I know.

Xenoblade 2: Chronicles was defined by its melodramatic 90s jRPG story. XCX was defined by its scale. What's going to set this one apart?

Tacoma: Gone Home is the ultimate video game, because the medium changes how the player experiences the story. Gone Home is only Gone Home because it's a video game. It's a story told with care and attention. I want to see how Gaynor's team follows that up. It's close, I can feel it, and I bet we get another showcase at Microsoft telling us we can go play it soon.

Pyre: Bastion and Transistor are two wonderful games I don't quite love. Supergiant are capable of creating incredible post-apocalyptic worlds that don't exactly match up with what our preconception of those worlds. They have wonderful music. Their combat is unique and malleable. But they always fall just short of whisking me away completely. I don't anticipate Pyre to break this trend for me, but I'm still interested in it nonetheless.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. What an incredible time for shooter campaigns we live in. The two Wolfenstein games, DOOM, Titanfall 2 all delivered memorable experiences. What surprised me most about The New Order is that it was set in this greater America vs. Evil conflict and yet never overwhelmed you with insufferable jingoistic garbage that taints so much American media. Also you could dual-wield everything and rip apart robo doggos. So, you know, good stuff.

Spider-Man PS4: All I hope for is that Insomniac's creativity isn't stifled by the license they represent. This has the potential for a great, great game. Every Spider-Man game for like a decade has made you say, "oh but remember the good ones?" Well, this one might be one of the good ones.

So I feel pretty good about this list coming out of E3. No Below is disappointing, and I don't think Spider-Man or XC2 showed well, but 7/10 is a nice return.

tonight I was watching the Nintendo stuff with the kids, and when the Mario demos came on they we're completely silent. they loved it. Sophia said it looks like Breath of the Wild.
