Ahem. Yes, flavor.

Anyway not much to say about this player. He was awful at Mercs, but he was really memorable at being awful considering he actually tried.

Oddity was lynched. He was Terastodon, TOWN Vanilla.

Conversely, this guy blowed balls but didn't try. But at least he didn't care, so it's okay to suck when you don't bother. Also I found it amusing to put two users that both lead the same team (Ark and PJ) as vanillas to see funny meta.

Death lost in endgame. He was PJBasis, TOWN Vanilla (not Miller, why the fuck would he be a miller? Seriously?)

Meanwhile, DC ate his routine top 8 loss. Nothing new, even in the world of Mafia. And just as tradition, he didn't actually accomplish his murder.

Eaedwards lost in endgame. He was DeathChicken, TOWN Vengeful Poisoner.

Arti's gimmick sucked, but he's my friend so he got into the game and I needed someone. Eddv, well, was way too prolific for a vanilla role. In fact...well, whatever!

Ben lost in endgame. He was Articuno2001, TOWN Vanilla.

I also needed another vanilla. Honestly, Koala would make sense as some sort of Cursed player, since he literally bought Mega Man and got screwed by results RNG every time. The antithesis to Jeezy if I've seen one. So basically he was included as a vanilla because I liked him. =)

MenuWars lost in endgame. He was KommunistKoala, TOWN Vanilla.

So I guess those...putrid badmins won. Well, you could really say it was a Pyrrhic victory truly. Was there really any winner to Mercs? We spent 1.5 years all losing. And I think we all know Kanz has nothing better to do in his backwater Argentian country than to plot buys in M4. So, yeah.

Shortly before flavor: I never explain renamed roles. It works against both town and scum. I think it's more fun. I decided that I would flip Drakeryn as (renamed Survivor) because it seemed fair however.


Kanzaris Kelshen, TOWN Scumlord (Limited Time Doublevoter)

Ha! The man, the legend. The winner of Mercenaries 4. And probably the most overall reviled player to grace the game with a few exceptions dare I say. From political mastermind to picking up some downright broken mercs, you assembled a team strong enough to overcome the Kanz-hate that you enveloped. Much like the Satsui no Hado, you became one with the hate.

Just like in Mercenaries 4, you'll have a minion to vote for you at your behest. Well, until the game hits the playoffs, then she'll get banned. You are a Doublevoter until 12 or less players remain in the game. After that, you will have no power but to rely on your own skills.

You win with Town.

FFD, TOWN Watcher (Even Nights)

You made a habit of watching. It didn't really matter if you played a game of diplomacy. Or social engineering. You *could* have, but you didn't want to get utterly sucked up into this hellhole again. Instead you decided to play it by the book. Assemble a good team, make some nasty combos, and play a .500 win record to the playoffs. Then social games won't mean so much and you can do your thing. You waited, and watched. You picked out key mercenaries when they became available (Samus Aran remake, anyone?). Too bad you paid attention only half the time.

You are a Watcher. At night you can take a hard look into one player and see who visited them at night on even nights (i.e. Night 2, 4, ..). Fun!

You win with Town.

Boko, TOWN Doctor

Fight fire with kindness. With love. With nice words and pretending to be dumb. You played an interesting game, one that everyone really wishes they could have done. I mean you were Boko, the only sane dude in the room most of the time. Mister Popular. Good Friend, Better Mercs Player. Well you fell short at the finish line, but so did I so hey.

Every night you can opt to save one of your fellow users. If targeted to die, you will save them. Much like you saved me...well, not really. But whatever.

You win with Town.

DeathChicken, TOWN Vengeful Poisoner

I was given great advice once upon a time. There were two players to never cross. One of them didn't play M4. The other was DC. Sound advice I would later agree on, having gotten to know DC over the span of the year+ I spent on this game. The man would rather slit the throat of someone and sabotage their chances of winning at the cost of their own life.

When you go down the drain, you're taking someone with you. Well, that WAS typically the idea. You'd flaunt it, kind of like the Doom status in Final Fantasy games. When you die, you may choose to poison a player, which will be noted in the flip. As with all Twilight abilities, if you do not declare this in 30 minutes after the deadline you will not use your ability.

Jeezy, TOWN RNJesus

I mean I think this one is pretty much self-explanatory. Jeezy's team was playing fire with fire. Like, hello, Alucard? The Plan? Retro Plan? CATS??? Every time you'd kind of just...luck things out with RNG. Every time until the end. It was a game of throwing darts at a board and hoping they stuck.

Well lucky for this incarnation, because you too will be throwing darts at a board. At night, you may target a player, and one of 10 random effects will happen to them. What are they? They're for me to know, and for you to find out. It's mercs tradition! But let's just go with that half of them are good, and half of them are bad. Also, you can also end up doing absolutely nothing. Fun.

Trdl, TOWN Thief

Odd the story Trdl is. A man truly beholden to none, a relative unknown on the board. Well...for like, two weeks. Through alliances and deals, you rarely fought. You ended up with a very solid record, too. A winning strategy, for sure. But at the end of the day, you were practically stealing wins away.

At night, you may visit a player, and steal their favorite merc away instead! Too bad this isn't mercs, because you'd be in heaven.

You win with Town.

JC, TOWN Conspiracy Target

For a while you were the leader. Strong out the gate. Basically playing 4D chess before it was cool to play 4D. Everything worked out. You had a top tier merc in Raiden, a devastating low tier deterrent. You had the strongest mid merc for god knows how long. Man, if there was a team to win...JC was the guy to do it. Well, if there was a mid-season winner then JC would be my pick. Too bad the game went on for 28 more weeks.

However you still have that stigma. You're a threat, even if you aren't one. At night you can (inadvertantly) goad another player into using their night action on you should they have used one at night -- it will effectively re-direct it onto yourself. They will only remember your Week 20 80% win rate and not ending below .500. The good old days, right?

Articuno2001, TOWN Vanilla

"Substance, not style." Well, Arti truly was neither of them. In fact, he was easily bullied, but at least tried to go after a team theme. Unfortunately for him it didn't work out well at all. I think he secretly really liked playing Mercs, but distanced himself away after losing. It was time to move on, or something.

KommunistKoala, TOWN Vanilla

Despite accuring some of the COOLEST mercs (Samus Aran for 120 gp, oh baby) you really never left a footprint on the game. Just getting screwed on Mega Man RNG. As a wise man once said, live by the rng die by the rng. Well, you didn't exactly die by the rng, but it didn't help when your team started to drown!

An early lesson in not pissing someone off. A man made an example. Well, I still personally think Kuja beats Shulk. But whatever. You'll be remembered for buying Aeris for min by accident, and that's.........about it.

Only a true historian would remember you were in this game. In fact -- well, you didn't play half the time. Better than what Brohan managed, I suppose, but whatever. If only you bought Sora, and not Catherine!

The solo shoto. Honestly you did a bang up job trying to recover PJ's team but man, it just wasn't happening. But you can take pride that you were one of the two teams eliminated prior to playoffs to deal me a legitimate loss!

Drakeryn, INDEPENDENT Spectator (Survivor)

You swore off Mercs. Never again. You knew you could do it, but win again? Invest so much time...again? It wasn't going to happen. You always found more enjoyment in watching how people played the game anyway. Plenty of former players followed the game -- for a time. But they lost interest. Not you, you had a journal to upkeep. To keep track of everyone's failures and successes. Mostly failures.

At one point during the game, you may make yourself Untargetable. You scan INNOCENT, being a former player and being a trusted confidant of -- oh, 5 players! You just want to watch Mercs 4 burn to the ground with a front row seat.

You win by yourself when one other faction accomplishes their win condition and endgame is reached. Should you die prior to this, you will be considered to have lost. Survive at all costs.

The OlDirty himself. The man who ran the game into the ground. He who did not care about releasing 40 mercs at the start of playoffs. And you were doing *so* well too! Gosh. Anyway, his exploits included ruining a year of my life, so he's definitely deserving of the roleblocker status.

As a substitute player, for the grand total of 2 weeks, OlDirtyNumbers will scan INNOCENT (i.e. not as BADMIN). He got that game cred, trust me.

Dantezoid, BADMIN Lazy Bastard (Ability Duplicator)

I mean, he was never actually a badmin, but for all intents and purposes I consider him one. Guy probably did more than some of the more official admins at any point with putting topics up. But getting an answer out of the guy, well, that wasn't happening for anyone. Including the badmins.

Exciting times. He'll help out the Badmin squad once again, but at his own pace. At night, you may choose to forgo the usage of a nightly (i.e. the power must be infinite usage; default faction kill does NOT count before you ask) power and force Dante to do it himself. Unfortunately for you, he's going to take his sweet time. Turns out, the power turned off at his house. The very next Night phase, you may carry out the specified action.

HGR, BADMIN Ninja Assassin

You know it finally came upon me: every time HGR voted, it was in a match the badmins talked about in IRC. Man, it always tended to be my fights too. He'd show up, post something more asinine than Dante could ever manage to conceive, and peace out. I really love Mercs, if you can't tell.

Dream crusher. Assassin. Plenty of other flowery ways to say it. Once during this game, you may have HGR fire off a last minute vote to crush one player out of the game. The kill bypasses any protection of course and you will not be seen getting up at night.

Lopen, BADMIN "THE" Badmin (Death Proof)

For all the shit the long time players of M4 gave to the hosts, Lopen did a good job. He might have been a bit roughly cut. Can you blame him? Either you gotta fake a power outage, or you hop on IRC to be hassled by people like JC and gravy for hours on end because they can't read the rules properly. Certainly a stressful "job" for something that was supposed to be charity work! But you made it. Where other badmins failed, you refused to be sunk. I think we can all agree that M4 only completed somewhat on time because of THE Badmin of Badmins.

And now you're taking it back. The only way you can be eliminated is through a lynch. You are unable to be killed at night by those stinking players. They'll have to lynch you -- and you're confident that you'd surely NEVER be lynched as Mafia.

To quote a great man, "When in doubt, simply do nothing. Let someone else take the fall. Let the bigger man step up to the plate. Why the hell did I sign up for this?" - Ken Griffey Jr, paraphrased. The Kid had a point. Now I may have misattributed his saying to his penchance at the plate, but that's beside the point. Luis, however, did take this advice to heart. You screw up a few times, well, no more actual rulings. But he was always there. He might have pretended to be AFK but he was there. Watching. Waiting. And hoping to god that he didn't have to actually make an impact onto the game.

Here, you are a Role Cop. Instead of issuing out rulings, you can just investigate the filthy player base who is forcing your hand once again. Each night you may target a player to be scanned. You will be given the name of their role.

Also yeah, IGCD kinda let town down. Okay so fast comments:

Original Survivor was myself. In fact, I was TOWN Turncoat. Upon declaration I would shift alignment from TOWN to SURVIVOR and may make myself a one-shot Bulletproof. However I thought that was a mean role, so I scrapped it, and decided to give a shout out to Drakeryn. I decided on the flavor split he'd scan INNOCENT since -- well, Drakeryn was basically involved in most of the politics of the game despite being a deputy admin. I was considering giving Drakeryn an ability to write a message at night (which was scrapped from another player) that'd post on day start, but I decided against it.

I scrapped far more roles. Alany was Hated (lol banned), and then a Princess but I safe listed her instead. In relation to Kanzaris (the role) I really don't see a problem with her being safe listed. Bad meta, really. I had a rather long discussion with Reg on the matter. Tom was at one point a Mayor of sorts, I had JC as a Dead Spirit (could post a PM to me during night to post at Day going up). Let's see. GANON I considered to be a Miller, so I decided on him safelisted. Eddv was a "Dark Horse" at one point [renamed Universal Backup, because he had an out to EVERYTHING]. I had Chris being a Nuclear Bomb too, but yeah, scrapped.

Uh -- plenty of other scrapped ideas. I'll remember it a few eventually.

Let's see. Most of Jeezy's stuff was positive despite saying it wasn't. I lied! Haha.

I think scum played well enough to win. They put too many eggs into their "win now" basket this last day. If town didn't mislynch there, they'd win I think. If scum was more willing to bus I think they could have won. Randomization kinda reamed town, considering many high profile targets rolled power.

Town can't pussyfoot around MYLO, or else this happens. Oh well.

Pretty upset with IGCD. If there's one thing I dislike it's stupid host meta being introduced into the game. I had no choice than to MK him besides replace him.

Yeah scum flavor didn't really have to make much sense. I actually didn't really go into it -- but basically, Luis basically stonewalled me on rulings every time. He was the admin equivalent of the DMV, really! Wait in line for someone more qualified. I think after the League event he stopped actually making solo rulings after getting quite a few things wrong there. I didn't wanna be too scathing to him though since I like Luis!

Scare flew under the radar perfectly with a super ballsy claim, but Miz had EVERYONE thinking he was town. Overall I think MVP: MZero is the right call, but Scare is my HM. Super well done by both!

HGR spontaneously showed up in my topics because they always got discussion because the admin team loved talking about my matches from a long running weird fixation on my upset wins to vote against me like 95% of the time.

Even when he stopped showing up, he'd always be beckoned in from the scum chat.

Sucks.

Tiro was considered as a Vanilla (replacing Dante) but I wanted to play with a new role. Tiro is as vanilla as it gets. There were other random useless admins too but who cares about them.
