i like hearing cool stuff about games. like what dark souls does for the medium or all the stuff you can do in botw. don't want to actually play them.

and i don't want to learn about a battle system or s*** like that so generally the games i play now days are very simplistic or things i already know about.

Maybe you're depressed and/or overworked.

Some of my favorite chores are Dishwasher's Civilization, The Make Your Bedding of Isaac, and Swifter Heroes, so it came as quite a shock when I discovered games that felt like a chore!

For example, I put down DQ7 like 15-20h in because it was feeling like this (And haven't ever gone back to it oops), but I've put massive time into other games (e.g Fate/Extella, which I really enjoyed even though the vast majority of the gameplay was "Press Square in something vaguely resembling a rhythm") without feeling like that since

I used to play video games for hours upon hours at a time. I've gotten much older, and while I like reading about games, and I like watching games being played, and I still buy games, I can't seem to bring myself to actually turn on a system and play them anymore.

Right now I've got Horizon Zero Dawn in my PS4 and Story of Seasons Trio of Towns in my 3DS. I've played a few hours of each, and I haven't touched either in over a week. I think about it, and then I just don't want to.

Is it just me?

This is exactly me. I enjoy Lets Plays, and I bought Breath of the Wild, but if I play for more than like an hour or so it actually gets me nervous and anxious Its weird.

I tend to have a hard time convincing myself to start playing new games, but I when I actually play them I still enjoy them as much as ever.

exactly this. I rarely beat games but I always have fun when playing them. if I stop having fun, I stop playing.

Story-based games are a delicate balance. Sometimes I'm so focused on the story that I get irritated with the combat I have to slog through to receive it

Sometimes a friend will coerce me into playing something in order to socialize that I don't actually like that much

Aside from that, if a game is a chore I just put it down
