for the most part, yeah. look at the job topic or any irl based topic. the people on this board generally have real lives that they go out and experience. board 8 is a distraction from the 3D world. or maybe I'm just projecting myself onto the people I don't know very much about.

No. Unfortunately as I got older I realized this. What I thought was funny and goofy stuff is actually unsettling to me now. Back then I thought everyone was just a stupid teenager like I was. Now 12 years have passed and I realized we just have some f***ed up people

Normal when mapped against western culture as a whole? Leaning towards no.
Normal when mapped against internet culture as a whole? Probably still leaning towards no, but for the opposite reason.

I guess the answer is more no than yes, but there would need to be actual analysis and studies before a definitive conclusion could be put forward.

I worry about my normalness more than I worry about the board's, and I have enough normalness to be fine. We got people with cute pets, cool jobs, new property, sweet girlfriends, and some killer stories about our outside lives. We travel, have kids, and know people who die. We're fine.

There's some weirdness among us, sure -- the good kind and the bad kind -- but most of us grew up together around a once-niche hobby as our common ground, so I think we're hard on ourselves.

yeah there are certainly a few very weird people on here. but most? nah, I'd say most are normal.

Absolutely not

This is not even about internet culture taking pride in being "weird" and "anti-social" even though it's super mainstream and normal now. Board 8 is specifically weird in ways different than anywhere else on the internet or real life.

Like most of us have been here 5-10 years. Some approaching 15. Because of a game ranking popularity contest. And the next time there's a contest we'll get into it just the same as we did 10 years ago. Everyone here is supremely weird.

board 8 is weird because you need a certain personality type to even qualify. but I feel like, within those parameters, we're actually pretty normal, well-adjusted folks, at least as far as tight-knit internet communities go. I think this place is kind of great and I love that it exists. it's like internet homeroom.
