Found the road blocks:

If you don't grind/prep/use a strong friend Wind Shrine, and the mermaids at the ship are impossible.


Edit: Might have spoken too soon. Either the AI script is busted, or they keep separate pools for healing since mermaid 2# stopped healing both when I changed to attacking her. (*5 Noctis can survive with point warp while the rest are dead.)

We also apparently get a banner called Gilgamesh Vanquishers? Stars Bartz, Snow, Ramza, Agrias, and Exdeath. I have no idea what rhyme or reason went into making that banner

I referenced this Materia the other week as a way for Demon Rain to get damage potential.

It's an aoe with dispelga, ignore defense, and cost you an arm and a leg to use in mp.


Think I mentioned here you need to seal the four elements plus light to make him more managble. Plus only trigger one threshold unless you really like death.

This Gilgy has a million HP

Which isn't too bad, but his DEF and SPR is really high and can't be broken.

Also he'll murder you if you pass too many of his low HP stages at once. Plus he attacks... what, 6 times a turn and if you don't seal his elemental weapons their secondary effect will lay waste on your party

Thank goodness actual difficult content is coming. Like some stuff was kinda rough before TM Grinding like Maxwell, but I was beginning to regret TM Grinding cause once I got this beefy X-Death and Elza I was just wrecking everything with no effort.

I recommend throwing yourself at the trial after this one without Marie/Tilith/Tidus/Minifilla.... :D

Yeah probably is smart to rush through the Trials for the best gameplay experience. Can always try em again later and it's not like I'm super on the ball with pinching every bit of stamina anyway. I'll probably do it later this week.
