I sort of assume that, in this case, they'd have him defend his suitcase the next night against someone who wants it, and lose in the ugliest way possible. And then someone would spit on him and the GM of the week would announce he's fired for being such a sorry loser. Also they probably would withhold his paycheck.

I imagine either WWE has the guy get kayfabe injured and have to give up the contract in his next match or he gets put in a match with the briefcase on the line and loses it to the intended person.

"Hope is allowed to be stupid, unwise, and naive." ~Sir Chris
What if this guy just decided to win the Royal Rumble and rolled out of the ring until #30 was up, for instance
If everything in the Rumble is determined ahead of time, and I assume there's a crew of people watching it as it goes down, then someone would notice an under-the-rope roll-out when there shouldn't have been... so they'd still have like, upwards of an hour to fix it. They could tell every wrestler before they go out that so-and-so needs to get back into the ring. The guy that rolled out, where would he hide to kill the time? If he's just sitting on the floor next to the ring then you can get a bunch of wrestlers to force him back in or something.
Alternatively, when someone makes their entrance and the camera shot is on the entrance person, you can have someone on commentary say "Oh and while we were focused on this new entrant, so and so was eliminated". And then that's it, they're gone.
..... maybe that's what they'd do with the ladder match. They'd claim that whoever won did something illegal before winning and as a result they were disqualified from the match and they're going to redo it.

I thought about that too, but the fact they went so horribly off-script the first time, would they really trust this person to do things right the 2nd time? What if they forget technicalities and just make it a normal one-pinfall match for the contract, and the guy that's supposed to lose gets DQed or counted out so they, technically, keep the contract? What if they refuse to get pinned so there's a real, brutal physical confrontation going on a live episode of Raw (like Jeff Hardy vs. Sting is Hardy was on bath salts instead of whatever he was on)? Would they cut to commercial and just say the guy was pinned during the commercial break? I guess that's what they'd do...

in kayfabe, what was the time limit for cashing in? 1 year, or until the next Wrestlemania? Or do they not have that time limit anymore? The kayfabe injury would have to be kayfabe career ending... which actually would work really well, good call.
yeah rey really took the world by storm around that time
he actually managed to steal the show at the friggin super j cup as a nobody against psicosis in an exhibition match in 1995
that tournament featured liger, ultimo dragon, jericho, benoit, otani, and el samurai amongst others, all in their primes, and some 5'5" 20 year old nobody stole the show

If he still insisted on not playing ball, they'd just take the credibility hit of a hasty write-off (we see a heel push someone down a flight of stairs and find out it was Mr. Money in the Bank, or an angry face beats on his car while he's supposedly in it, and the car explodes, or something a little less ridiculous) and stop puttin him on TV.

they get paid what, every 2 weeks or every month? Maybe they pull it off knowing full well they won't see those 2 or 4 weeks pay. Or maybe they've already got a new job lined up when their contract is up so they're not worried about it...

Send Del Rio in there to do it and Del Rio will legit kick most regular sized guys' asses.
Now, if it was like Big Show who was trying to pull this stunt, then...umm....

Right, the WWE has a few guys trained in MMA who could have an actual fight if need be.
If it's Big Show, and Big Show has a future job lined up and isn't afraid of not being paid or ever getting the paychecks involved in future appearances, then they probably don't even bother putting him on TV to lose the briefcase. "Big Show has left the WWE. Therefore, the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase is back up for grabs."

But then the guy presses charges on Del Rio for assault and WWE has egg all over their faces... he can claim his brutality was in self-defence and it wasn't part of the script...
If it was Big Show, I can see a hilarious sequence of events where the ref completely ignores blatant disqualifying events, every superstar over 240 pounds comes out from the back and wrestle Big Show to the ground and, like, sit on him and then the ref does the 3 count.

This is the most likely solution, ultimately. Why they would leave immediately after winning makes no sense, but it's the quickest cleanest way to start over.
...I forgot all about Punk's "leaving" with the title last year. <_<
They could always say the guy had a serious injury or a personal issue they needed to take care of or something, but I'm not sure they even try to justify his leaving.

Anyone properly trained in amateur wrestling and jiu-jitsu should be able to manhandle an untrained guy down for a three count without like breaking his arm or busting his face up.

Assuming the guy is untrained.... what if he's not and wins the grappling exchanges?
Now the WWE needs to make this happen. reality era
and if TNA doesn't want to bring in cro cop, have him be part of the UFC stable brock brings in to destroy WWE
also including bobby lashley, ken shamrock, dan severn, and of course chael sonnen
Long have I wanted there to be an arc where a wrestler defeats champions and accumulates championships culminating in an ultimate Wrestlemania match (probably vs. Taker: Streak vs. vacating all the championships he has)
And that man... would be Sonnen. I'd like to see Sonnen with all manner of championship belts ;(
TEAM WWE John Cena CM Punk Daniel Bryan Alberto Del Rio Sheamus Randy Orton
TEAM MMA Brock Lesnar Chael Sonnen Mirko Cro Cop Bobby Lashley Ken Shamrock "Mystery Partner"
Like Bash at the Beach, no mystery partner shows up until Del Rio shocks the world and turns on Team WWE, revealing himself to be the 6th member. Team WWE is outnumbered and soon it's down to John Cena vs. Brock and Chael. All of a sudden, Anderson Silva comes out of the crowd and breaks all of Sonnen's appendages, Cena adjusts Brock's attitude, and the PPV goes off the air with Cena's music blaring.

Bryan also turns on Team WWE toward the end of the match, causing Cena to get F5'd.
The next day, we get WWE Presents Monday Night MMA starring Brock Lesnar.
So for the longest time, I've considered hosting a Save My contest for every WWF/WWE game, then another contest for all other wrestling games, and then a third one featuring the Top 10 or so of both contests.
First, some input from you: 1. Should Crush Hour/Betrayal/With Authority/etc. be included so we can say we included every WWF/WWE game ever? Or just the wrestling ones? 2. Should sims be included in the other contest?

I'll be the savior here to answer your question. I was the king at the "Save My" contests here at B8 back in the day.
1. I would say no. Since there would be a good 40 or so more games included in the contest I think it would get monotonous and boring in the first few rounds as those games would be nothing but filler in the contest and be some of the first out. I would expect the final involving a combination of Shut Your Mouth/Here Comes The Pain/DOR1/SVR06/No Mercy. All of those "other" wrestling games would just get in the way.

2. Yes.
That's true. And in terms of monotonous and filler, I wasn't going to include handheld versions of games, but I suppose I should also take out the original games for the Game Boy Advance (Road To Wrestlemania/RTW X8/Survivor Series) as well as WWE Aftershock for the N-Gage. (lol)

have save my wrestling things ever fared well on this board?
Didn't the save my hardcore champion take forever to finish due to lack of activity?
That was because there was a ton of people in that. That was like 6th in a series of championship contests, where the first 5 went quite well.

To all my wonderful fans, just want to let you know I have been granted my release from TNA. It was completely amicable parting of ways and I want to thank TNA and all of its employees for the wonderful journey I've had there over the years. Now I'm on to the next amazing chapter of my life! If you are looking to book me please contact John at [email protected] Thank you so much!
Another Twitter war. This time it's the controversial Mark Madden vs. former cheerleader Mike Mondo over the health of ROH as a company.
Long story short (and I am filling in some massive blanks here because Madden's prose is s***), Madden wrote a column wondering how ROH can survive as a "#3" National promotion when they clearly cannot pass (or even come close to) drawing the same kind of money TNA does, with talent that constantly gets purged. He likened it to ECW getting too big for its britches and basically going national at the worst possible time, since WWE and WCW had already taken all the talent that was worth taking.
A fair point. It's one thing to be small time and accept it. Tour the northeast and midwest, sell out your core markets a few times a year, don't over-extend yourself locking down talent or trying to conquer new land. You can survive and maybe even make a living that way, as CHIKARA is currently proving.
But what ROH is doing now under Sinclair is heavily reminiscent of ECW on TNN. All the charismatic guys are gone, and they're left with "good workers" (ROH) or "Hardcore brawlers" (ECW) who can't make it in WWE or TNA because they lack presence. To ROH's credit, they've lucked out a little with Davey and Steen in that those are two guys WITH presence that can't make it in WWE or TNA for size reasons (and completely different size reasons at that. <_<). ECW in its final years had no one like those two. The rest of the rosters though? Pretty comparable. And yet they're trying to become bigger than ever in scope, when their best days as a product are long gone.
Potentially fatal mistake.
So anyway, Madden points this out and all the ROHbots and even ROH wrestlers (most notably Mondo) jump down his throat about how ROH is awesome and it's the best wrestling on the planet, yada yada lena yada, which is basically a strawman.
Madden: "ROH can't survive financially like this." ROHbots: "F*** YOU u fat slob ROH rules!" Madden: "If it rules so much why isn't it making money?" ROHbots: "What do you know about making money you fat f***?"
and so on and so on.
I hate to side with Madden but I think he wins this one.
Talent beats Hard Work every time.
