That's right, I'm hijacking a topic about me to make my own topic about video games. Because obviously I am the only one who can make video game topics. Not even Ulti can reach my levels of narcissism!
But the other topic(s), awesome as they are, don't have enough attention. Time to fix this. Plus, it's two weeks until e3!
- Who wants a DQ10 usb stick!!!! -- I love the level 16. nice touch. Game's out in a little over two months. Seems kinda crazy. http://andriasang.com/con0tq/dqx_date/
Also, this paragraph fills me with pure terror of what will occur:
Both the standard and bundle versions of the game will come with 20 days free play time. Square Enix is also planning to host special "Kids Times" for the game. These periods will be free play. Square Enix says that it won't be setting a specific age limit for these periods, but asks that people understand that they're meant for children.
- Random website lists MGS Rising for February 2013. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metal-Gear-Rising-Revengeance-PS3/dp/B006T960GE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337591898&sr=8-1 At this point, I think February 2013 is bigger than November 2012. MGS Rising, Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider (just listed as q1 for now) -- yikes. November 2012 has Call of Duty and Halo 4, and Hitman looks kinda rad, but beyond that? Not a lot happening. Then again, e3 in 2 weeks.
- Shadowgate for IOS and Android! Also PC and Mac! http://www.zojoi.com/adventures.htm I love that someone actually still has the rights to this game. Should be an awesome IOS game too.
- There's topics out there about Castlevania 3DS. I'm not seeing the point of making another Lords of Shadow game on a handheld so hopefully it's a legit 2d game and not some half-assed 3d Castlevania on a handheld. We'll find out soon, I guess.
- Has anybody been following the 38 Studios drama? Basically, the Kingdoms of Amalur publisher owes the state of Rhode Island over a million dollars, which is cannot pay. They then skipped payroll so they could pay the fee, then asked RI for more money. To prove this, they leaked some video of their upcoming MMO, titled "project copernicus". The whole thing is super weird. Here's Copernicus - http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/18/first-video-of-38-studios-project-copernicus-mmo-flies-over-a/
The next two weeks should be all about Wii U. Everyone else is kind of bailing on e3 and it's hard to expect a lot out of Vita. Let's see where this goes.
either way, a LOS-esque 2.5d handheld game has next to zero appeal to me. needs to be straight 2d or 3d. 2.5d with 3ds trickery seems like a gimmick. also seems like Iga is permanently done with the series. I wonder where he turns up next - seems like he'd leave the studio and make that 'PRODUCED BY CASTLEVANIA VETERAN IGA' hype that guys like Kamiya and Mikami have gone on to do.
2.5D is likely just 3D models on a 2D plane. I'm interested in it because it's not a recycled Metroidvania, though! There's a decent chance it isn't too good, but knowing it's not Iga at least gets my interest.
I kinda want to try that. FE kinda gave up on DS and I never really wanted to play the GBA ones. plus it sounds like the new one is both good and a good entry point (read: noob-friendly)
yeah, the remake of 1 on DS was awful, and 3 never got localized though i heard it was better.
i heard Awakening was, by far, the most difficult in the series. granted i'm trying to avoid news so maybe i read one incorrect thing but that doesn't sound like a good entry point!

<p>From: The Mana Sword | #025 Awakening isn't the hardest to my knowledge. I mean, it CAN be the hardest, but it also has noob mode aka no permadeath</p> "Oh this game isn't hard at all since you can play on Easy Mode"
I've been pretty disappointed by the games released this year. So far Trials Evolution and FEZ are my GOTY frontrunners. I was hoping Xenoblade would turn out to be the next Persona for me, but I eventually lost interest in it.
Not to mention, everything I want to play is being pushed to 2013. Assassin's Creed III, Borderlands 2, don't let me down.
This year has been pretty good so far. Journey, Binary Domain, FFXIII-2, ME3--good games. Xenoblade is kinda boring, but maybe it's just a slow burn. I'm still working through it.
From: transience | #040 Xenoblade isn't a slog. it's big and expansive though. if that scares you off then yeah, maybe avoid it.
Yeah, it kinda does. I don't know, my attention span for long games has pretty much dried up. It's hard to imagine a game I would actually want to spend 67 hours playing.

"Congratulations Thomas and Sylvia! But their happiness does not continue long..."
Somewhat random, but I was just playing Suikoden 2 yesterday and I realized for the first time ever that having Stallion in your party doubles your movement speed on the world map. If I'd known that before I would have been using him all the time!

yes i suppose both of our posts looked pretty stupid
Well, since you clearly weren't able to figure it out on your own, I was replying to numbers's claim that he didn't think that Awakening was a good entry point in the series because it was the most difficult. You see, because the game has a mode easier than any other Fire Emblem so far (insofar as you don't have to worry about losing any of your characters permanently), he was obviously misinformed about this. At its default level, Awakening probably isn't harder than Thracia 776 or anything either, but it has harder difficulty levels for more experienced players. A playthrough on those levels might equate to the most difficult Fire Emblem game.
Hopefully that clears things up a bit for you.

<p>From: Kaxon | Posted: 5/21/2012 7:48:31 PM | #039 Guess I won't be trying Xenoblade then - I have no patience for games that are a slog.
So, is there supposed to be anything good coming for the Wii U? I'm still hoping for LoZ:FSA2, that would be a system seller for me.</p> we'll finally be getting Pikmin 3! should be a launch title what with it being in development for like 5 years at least
It just isn't very exciting. There's a lot of down time as you move in between story scenes doing fetch quests in between. It's not bad, but yeah, you can spend 2 hours playing and not accomplish much. I don't sit down and play it for too long.
