From: Theon_Greyjoy | #003 Also two of my buds I watch it with have read the books so they're always telling me the stuff they left out.
I try not to do this with my friends because I figured it would be annoying!
Oh hey, now I actually know that your name comes from something.
I just marathoned season 1 last night, and then caught up with season 2 this afternoon. Incredible show. It seemed like it was going to be cut-and-dry good vs. evil when it started out, but now there are so many different groups vying for power I don't even know who to cheer for. Well... almost.
I've been rooting for Daenerys and her khalasar since the beginning and I have to say it surprised the hell out of me when Khal Drogo died, and I thought it might of been the end of her after that. But it actually opened up an even more interesting storylines and turned her into kind of a badass.
Pretty much everyone on the show is great though, it's hard to choose favourite characters or POVs when they're all done so well. But if we're just talking about what we'd like to see happen... I gues the best possible outcome would be the Daenerys taking the throne in some kind of alliance that allows Robb to remain KING IN THE NORTH.
The riot at King's Landing was the best part personally, with Theon killing Cassel not far behind. Also loved the "Oh crap" moment when Littlefinger entered Tywin's solar with Arya in his presence.
Those changes, on the other hand. Eh, if the writers can find a way around them, it'd be fine.

Jon/Ygritte scene was totally weird, not sure where they are going with that. Also the episode titles must have been messed up somehow because that episode had nothing to do with "The Old Gods and the New". It would have been more fitting for the last episode when Brienne swore her oath to Cat.
I haven't read the books but I'm getting reports over here that it most certainly did not happen in the books. Apparently this episode diverges the most out of all episodes to-date. There is some concern for a butterfly effect that messes with the overarching story but a lot of folks seem to be implying that these were all minor enough (by this series' standards...!) to converge back upon a relatively set point when needbe.
As I understand it they're already in the business of shifting things around fairly extensively. Peppering in some of the back half of the third book to better-season the third season seems reasonable.
But again, I haven't read the books. Maybe that's impossible.
Hmm. That might have been my least favourite of the bunch. I have to say I was hell surprised reading through the comments here. Now it probably has to do with me more than the actual episode, but I'm actually feeling kinda bummed right now. I had to watch it on my laptop because for some reason the only video I could find was in a format that wouldn't play on my PS3 and I didn't want to spend the time converting it.... I mean it wasn't bad, but I really wasn't nearly as into it as I had been with the others. Totally not digging the Jon/Ygritte angle either. I'm really excited for next week, but I just wasn't feeling this one.
There were many changes tonight. Almost every storyline was at least tweaked.
None of it should ruin anything in the show. Almost all of it was to set up or clarify character motivations.
That's not to say that I liked all of the changes. But I understand why they were made and they're pretty much in the spirit of the books.
I'm more concerned with some things that are missing than things that are changed, but I know they pushed back some stuff til season 3, so hopefully they manage to handle that stuff well when they get to it.
What's the significance of Luwin seeing the three-eyed crow in the opening scene? Was that to show that Bran was dreaming of it all happening... as it was happening?

I think it was just a two eyed crow. Just looked at the replay.
From: foolm0ron | #043 Just watched the first episode.
Seems cool. I like the art style.
Hey foolmo.
Major Characters Through The End of Episode 1 of Season 1: Some backstory in here, it was all in the first 100 pages of the book either way and helps stuff make more sense, but if you want to avoid it, just ignore the right hand column.
So people don't like Joffrey? He seems unlikeable, but a good character and enjoyable to watch still.
Anyways, I just finished episode 7. The show is pretty interesting, but nowhere near Breaking Bad levels (I know that's an unfair comparison, but still). I'll probably just watch S1 and be done with it, unless something REALLY interesting happens at the end of S1.
