Cabin in the Woods (4th time) - 9.99/10. Still disappointed I haven't seen a snowman, but so pumped that I enjoy it more and more with rewatches.

The Avengers (1st, and likely not the last, time) - 10/10. I think this may be my favorite movie of all time.

I thought the big reveal at the end was quite interesting. Right after I watched it I went wait what? And rewinded it and watched it again. I forgot I was watching a movie that had a twist at the end which made it better.


other then that though I thought the movie ran a bit long. I liked the idea of the plot but I think they could have truncated it for the same effect. This was mitigated by the plot being interesting, but it certainly was not as good as it could have been.


Good movie, but I have no plans on purchasing it.

Remember the Titans 9/10

Just rewatched this movie, and I still love it, even though I'm not a huge football fan. When I was younger, my parents used to have the CD and they played it in the car all the time, so I feel like the soundtrack is permanently engraved into my soul.

Tales From The Crypt Presents: Demon Knight

8.25/10

Solid horror movie, saw parts of it during my childhood but finally sat down and watched the entire thing on Netflix. Billy Zane is actually decent in this 1995 movie. There's actually a lot of recognizable actors in this movie. The SPFX are lol but then again it is from the mid-90s. I enjoyed it enough!

Road to Perdition - 8.5

Very emotional film that is only heightened by a fantastic soundtrack. There was something about the kid's character that seemed a little off, but Hanks picked up the slack to really meld that father/son relationship that was the main focus to this movie.

Michael Clayton - 7.5

Corporate/Political thrillers are often hard sells to me because they often center it around a convoluted conflict that in turn makes it difficult to understand what is going on and who each character is supposed, causing me to not be fully invested emotionally.

Though this film didn't necessarily avoid that, I wasn't as confused about the people and events as most corporate/political thrillers. A lot of that credit goes to both Gilroy, for his writing and directing, and Clooney, for his acting. I was also very impressed with the final half hour of the film. Without that, I don't think that it would have even received a 7.0

Captain America: The First Avenger: 8/10

I really enjoyed it, and I've now successfully seen all the Avengers' movies before seeing the 'Avengers' movie. They were trying to fit a lot of story into one movie, and the ending especially felt rushed. I think this may have worked better as two films, like with Iron Man, had they the time. Still, it was well done and the cast was good - Chris Evans shows that he can do a much better job in the superhero role when given quality material, and Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving were pleasant surprises. Kudos also to Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper as papa Stark, and Sebastian Stan as Captain America's 'Orson Welles'-looking best friend.

The Bourne Identity - I decided to give this movie a second chance and actually try to watch it since it has been a few years since I last read the book. Still pissed off that there is no Carlos though, and the ending was....unremarkable.

I remember trying to watch this a few years ago before I took film seriously and got bored of watching it 30 minutes in. Now, watching it in full, I like this movie. Probably wouldn't put it in the top 10 movies of the 70's, but whatever.

The Avengers: 8.7/10

Yeah, it was pretty awesome...and quite funny too - though at times the humor felt a little forced. Still, it's pretty hard to screw up an Avengers movie, and seeing them all together after watching their individual movies was great fun. Looking forward to the sequel already.

Melancholia: 8/10

OK, this movie was a bit different. Well, unless you're used to Lars von Trier films - then it's pretty much what you'd expect, plus some extra sci-fi & surrealism. I loved the visuals in the latter half of the film - there's just something cool about another planet hanging in the sky right above Earth. I'll admit that at times I was wondering when something interesting was going to happen, but I have a soft spot for films that are A) Exceptionally unique - even if it (sometimes) means being strange and B) Take place all in one setting. When a unique film like this becomes overly praised it can become annoying, though - and Melancholia nearly falls into that category. Just because something is interesting and different, doesn't mean it's genius. Irregardless* (without lack of regard), this movie may speak to you if you're feeling down, and the fantastic visuals and vibrant colors are pleasant for the eyeballs.

*May not actually be a word.

4/10 for a biased review, they appeared to veer away from the book entirely :(.

Unbiased review puts it at 8.2/10. Better than the first movie, but the camera during the fight scenes could have been a lot better.

- On the one hand, it's sweet with some great characters and interesting situations and it's just a positive, fun movie. On the toher, it's meh. I liked it in my heart, but it doesn't sit as right in my head. I dunno. Very nice feelgood movie with characters I wish I knew in life.

It was somewhat cute, I really only cared for the Man or Muppet song. I did like the villian.

The Rum Diary - 4.5
I'm not even sure what the point was since what seems like the most important part of the story is told in three sentences at the end.
