Depends. They announced Bleach is in its last arc even though it could last years. Medaka Box is supposedly ending before the anime airs so it probably has 1-2 chapters left at the most if that's true. I think for most series they announce whether or not it's ending around 1-2 weeks in advance.

Not reading the thread because I'm a few chapters behind on OP, but I just caught up with the Fairy Tail anime. Are they seriously not adding a filler arc here? If they don't they'll catch up by the end of the current arc, if not sooner.

Depends on how long the anime for it lasts. Gainax has never done any really long shows as far as I know. I wouldn't be surprised if Medaka Box ends up being 24-26 episodes at the most.
