I can understand a lot about Advent Children. I really dislike the movie, but I can understand it. But I still don't really understand why they brought Rufus back to life. I assume it has to do with popularity, but I don't really understand why he's popular. He's not a bishonen like Sephiroth, he's not super charismatic or anything, he's just ultimately a secondary villain who's just out for himself.

He's just such an ass to absolutely everyone, yet portrays himself as suave and is genre savvy enough to not get screwed over by overconfidence; he only gets screwed over because Sephiroth is just better than he could ever be. It's just enjoyable having him on-screen, because he does something that's either humorous or cool every time and isn't completely insufferable because he's proven that he's competent and insults the incompetence of others, like Heidegger.
