From: Wanglicious | #315 many years? Smackdown does this on a regular basis. back when raw was dishing out slump after slump it was by far the better show. then Punk happened. but before that we had Henry. and before Henry we had Kane. somewhere between them we had Orton/Christian. but really, Raw really took things by the balls with Punk.
...then HHH happened.
but no, a couple months in a year SD is flat out the better show. the months it's not is because Raw did something that spikes your interest more, but SD will be the consistently good show.
SD was pretty unwatchable for a good stretch there. I'd say from Punk getting sent to Raw until Mark Henry's title reign, with the lowest point being Edge kidnapping Paul Bearer.
From: SythaWarrior | #348 I rewatched the 2004 rumble and I have to say I think from the stretch where Angle comes out to the end has to be the best stretch in a royal rumble. Like 2k2 and 92 might be better rumbles but the end of 04 is really good. Or maybe I'm not remembering a really good section in another rumble.
The absolute best "section" in any Royal Rumble is 2007, #28-finish.
But I'm not sure where you get the impression that 2004 is underrated. It's consistently rated as a Top Two Rumble, either ahead of '92 or right behind it.
I think you're thinking of 2001 that's also considered a great Rumble, not 2002 which is only good for the Taker/Maven stuff and #19-finish.

Unless he did it at two different rumbles, I think you're talking about Royal Rumble 2002. He showed up, lasted to the final four, and showed off he could still go.
Shame they never did anything with him after that.
Edit: Didn't three other people return at the 2002 Rumble? I know Godfather and Val Venis also returned back with their non-RTC gimmicks, but who was the fourth guy?

Oh, that's right! For some reason, I was thinking he returned after WrestleMania.
Damn. They hyped up all four of their returns at that Rumble, and yet the only one who actually got used immediately after that was Goldust.
Edit: True, the Flight of Hell got several people fired, but it is so strange that Perfect did so well at Royal Rumble and proceeded to languish on Heat, and have a forgettable tag team with Big Boss Man.

-- At this point we appeared to be headed for an intermission when all the arena lights went out, and standing at the ramp was former Winnipegger Y2J Chris Jericho, dressed in his awesome lighted jacket. Crowd went nuts for Jericho who came to the ring and did his usual posing for the crowd for 5 minutes. Jericho finally grabbed the mic and it seemed like he was finally going to speak when....

I voted for Michael Cole, and he seems to be winning by a landside right now. Number two would have probably been Sting vs Hardy and then the Walkout at third.

I still maintain that Heel Cole actually was worth experimenting with back at the beginning of 2011. They just don't seem to realize that it didn't succeed. <_<

Maybe going into his match with Lawler at 'Mania if he was going to get his comeuppance there, but there is no way to justify it going on for as long as it has with him being the lead announcer.
Heel Cole legitimately damages the product and is unbearable to listen to. And, unlike the other nominees (well, except TWITTERMANIA~!), his bull**** is still going.
Cole is probably the best winner in the SPIRIT of the award (basically the most embarrassing creative decision of the year) since Hardy vs. Sting was not intended to go down that way. I can admit that.
I just think that Hardy vs. Sting was the absolute worst thing to happen on-screen this year, even topping all of Cole's garbage combined.

heel cole had a place within NXT and a place for Miz as well. he's fine when he's hyping guys up that are heels.
it's that he doesn't know the difference between critique and burying where the problem lies. heel cole's problem is that he will bury you, hard. and from there wwe's problem is that they'll PUSH cole into angles that he should not be in (JR, Lawler) and is actively taking time away from guys whose jobs are to do what he's stealing from them. they do it better, with much better competition, but cole takes the light. it's definitely the most persistent problem and easily makes up half of the worst things of the year, but it's not the single worst.
WWE walkout wasn't that bad by itself. all things HHH were, but the walkout wasn't the worst thing in that episode.
Sting/Hardy definitely was the biggest ****up.

pretty much agreeing with jakyl totally there. heel cole HAS had some great moments and spots. his reactions have been fantastic too, and when stone cold made him cry it was pretty great. he's also a guy who it is impossible to be more heel against.
like there's SOME good in there with heel cole. he can also, surprisingly, be quite reasonable at times and right. but then he buries someone like dragon for an 5/8 of an episode and you wonder why he's talking. cole needs somebody like henry to shut down his bull**** hard when it gets out of hand, and he simply does not have that. if somebody could cap him off, cole would be fine in all things not in the ring.

See, I think just voting for Hardy vs. Sting overlooks the main problem: the belt should have never been put on Jeff Hardy. Hell, Jeff Hardy should have not been hired in the first place since he was still under indictment. That main event was a horrible way to end an already horrible show, but did it really do any more damage to TNA than anything else TNA has done?

Well to be fair, Jeff didn't screw anything up during his actual title reigns. The Victory Road incident was his rematch clause after losing it to Sting.
Hardy vs. Sting takes the cake for me because I actually PAID for that show. <_<

I voted Cole because the Sting/Hardy thing was A) Still just one atrocious moment, so even though it's worse than any given month of Cole BS it's not worse than all of them together, and B) not planned. TNA and Sting getting ****ed because Jeff Hardy is not the most reliable man in the world (even if TNA should have known what they were hiring, to be fair) is not as damning as someone genuinely thinking that having an idiot yell fabricated nonsense to bury everyone for an entire year would be good TV

They used that storyline AGAIN? That's the second time it's happened at a House Show.
The worst thing about Sting vs. Hardy really is that TNA knew Jeff was in no condition to compete and still threw him out there.
If Bischoff had just made up some BS about Jeff having travel problems and inserted Upper Midcard Heel X to improv his way through 10 minutes with Sting, it wouldn't be half as bad.

TNA should have known about Hardy's questionable reliability after his first stint with the company. I guess I wish that the nomination was "Jeff Hardy's TNA Run in General" or something like that because he hasn't done nearly enough for the company to justify bringing him in with his legal troubles and it has devalued him as well.

That was what was really baffling with the whole mess. Nobody had any ideas other than throw a high-as-a-kite Jeff Hardy out there? They could have put ANYBODY out there and it would have been better than what they did.
From: ScareChan | #375 So this Chikara, ROH thing. How do I get into it because it sounds awesome
I would say "Buy the DVDs" but that's gonna be awkward because ROH DVDs take months to come out while CHIKARA's are available within a week after the event.
...seriously, what's up with that?

1.) Live in a cell for the rest of my life but still have access to every wrestling event/DVD I would otherwise have access to or 2.) Live as free as I do now EXCEPT I can never watch 1 second of wrestling ever again
I would probably choose Option 1 as long as someone brought me food and I had functional plumbing.
