From: EmDubyaSee | #148 I don't. Unless you are Sarda (or someone who could literally change canon so that UT is no longer impossible to defeat at WM) you can't beat Taker at Mania. All the knowledge in the world doesn't help you one iota if you can't win.
... so Shulk could beat UT?

Bob is the most powerful fictional character ever. He can't be beaten.

Gotta say, isn't it actually possible that he just hasn't opened the topic when there's political ranting to be had? I don't think that's what happened, but we gotta give him the benefit of the doubt, riiiiiiiiiight~?

From: XIII_rocks | #024 In HGSS he creates a level 1 dialga/palkia/Giratina, yeah, but that isn't the same as creating the world. Like I said, I prefer to think of him as just an exceptionally strong Pokemon.
This was probably addressed already, but that level 1 legendary was ripped from a universe Arceus created and destroyed.

Shulk could definitely beat UT, as long as there's no DQ or he uses his precognition to make sure the ref doesn't see his monado.
But yeah man, Shulk has it all. Super crazy technology for armor and weapon, and magical godlike powers that cover tons of different situations. Far as Nintendo goes, his godhax is used waaaay more often and is stronger than the ones in Mario, Zelda, or Fire Emblem, and the tech's stronger than Metroid or Star Fox stuff (can't see either surviving the kind of punishment mechon can take).

If Pokémon are allowed, then Arceus might be a contender, but so far its powers haven't been demonstrated have they? Sure it's powerful, but there's no evidence that it's truly a "god" outside of fan speculation and some more superstitious myths in the games.
And even if it did create the universe or whatever, it sure doesn't seem it has that kind of power now, what with being able to be caught in a Pokéball and ordered around and stuff.
My money's still on Shulk and/or the other character in Xenoblade who might possibly be even more powerful.
That said, it was written that only Groudon can beat Arceus so

if MWC is seriously using this argument that Ganondorf is the strongest because only the Master Sword can beat him... where does his argument stop? Does he truly believe Ganondorf is the strongest character in all fiction?

No, because Sarda can rewrite canon or some s*** like that. He also thinks Sarda is the only character in history that can beat Undertaker at Wrestlemania (a guy who is literally vulnerable to CHLOROFORM AND BLUNT OBJECTS XFD).
Aw, don't give me the tvtropes links, I'm not stupid.
A certain amount of "gameplay" always has to be taken into account in discussions like this, because if you take away the gameplay in Nintendo games... you basically have nothing left to work with.
Consider this: In the DPP games, a 10 year old kid single-handedly defeats one or more supposedly divine creatures. Seems pretty silly, and it happens in gameplay, but if you disregard it... then the entire plot falls apart and you're left with no "canon" at all. It has to be canon.
And from there, the step up to Arceus isn't very big.

From: Grand Kirby | #174 I'm not sure why everybody kept bringing up Giygas. He may be a cosmic horror, but he was defeated by singing.
He got beaten by singing when he was just an alien, and it defeated him because it reminded him of the fact that he wasn't really keen on destroying humanity. When he went into super cosmic horror mode he was beaten by praying/because the player wanted it to happen

Mistake you're making - overlooking the fact that we might not want to be saved.
Being ten years old in the Pokemon universe doesn't mean the same thing as being ten years old... well, anywhere else.
I'm not sure what your argument even is anymore. Let's drop it.
In conclusion, I think it's safe to say the Xenoblade crew takes this, with Arceus as a possible second opinion albeit with a lack of evidence behind it.
However, even if we assume that Arceus does have the power to destroy the universe(seems very unlikely), which would put it on equal ground with Shulk, Shulk would still win in a straight-up "battle".
The battle would consist of "who destroys reality first", but Shulk can see his opponents' actions before they happen, so he would always beat Arceus to it.
Oh man, I've been forgetting something this whole time...

Giygas is still kinda a joke. The player can't influence anything BUT Giygas practically, so they're a pretty weak god. I mean, at least the god in Patapon could change wind directions and talk!

So Ganondorf killed a big tree and a fish. Indirectly, mind you. Those are probably great feats and all... but you're not seeing the scope here.
***LET'S BRING ON THE XENOBLADE SPOILERS***
In Xenoblade, Shulk literally kills God and destroys the entire universe.
Let's see Ganondorf or Dimentio or any other Nintendo character survive the complete annihilation of existence.
Dimentio was in the process of destroying and recreating the entire universe / multiverse while fighting all at the same time wasn't he >_> etc

From: 14_and_counting | #015 It's Ganondorf, it's not close, people arguing this are idiots.
The ONLY way to beat him is to have the Mastersword, because unlike normal humans, injuring him doesn't actually ****ing matter. He does not quit until he is dead, and you can't kill him unless you are Link (or have the MS)
wouldn't this make link more powerful than ganondorf

It's not a transitive property kinda thing here. It's like in the Pokemon metagame here. Heracross can beat Mewtwo, but he is not overall stronger than him. Yes Link with a certain Sword can stop Ganondorf, but without all item hax there are many MANY Nintendo characters that could take out Link.

TimJab posted... is link the only person whom can wield the master sword?
Depends on who you talk to. I think it is somewhat obvious he is the only person who can awaken it, but would someone else be able to wield it if they took it from him, or Link gave it to them. What about the tempered or Golden Sword, could the Fairy Queen wield them since she created them from the Mastersword?
I don't think you should take invulnerable with infinite magic Link as canon. He's never actually able to use infinite magic milk and an invulnerability effect at the same time. It's possible it might work, but Link never has access to both effects in the same game.

I think he was trying to say that age doesn't matter at all in Pokemon. You're saying "it's a 10 year old kid catching the pokegod" but that doesn't really matter. If you're saying the actions of the player are canon, anyone can grind out level 100 Pokemon when the champion of the league only has stuff in their 50s. I'd personally say that in Pokemon, only the actions taken to progress story are "canon". The PC in each game becoming the champion of the league are canon. Some legendary encounters such as the PC meeting the weather and dragon trios (but not necessarily capturing them) are canon, and even catching Resharim/Zekrom is canon, but that's it. Capturing Arceus is possible because when the tagline of a series is "Gotta catch em all" putting one or more of "em" off limits is stupid. Are we going to say that every character in every fighting game is canonically equal to one another because you as a player can (typically) take the weakest and beat the strongest?
