Is it wrong that I like ROH?

That is the opposite of wrong.

I for one loved the Jericho return and wouldn't mind if he did the same thing next week (though shorter since it won't take as long to get people to boo him). I mean the range of emotions and thoughts during that segment was great. I went from happy to see Jericho, to excited that he seemed like he would be a face, to annoyed at how long he was taking, to confused at what was happening, to upset that he was delaying, to shocked when I realize he wasn't going to say anything, to laughing at how he had just trolled the crowd and managed a successful heel turn from a massive face return without saying a single word. Jericho the Puppet Master!

Between that and the cheesy over the top Kane/Ryder/Cena segment it was a very fun last half hour of Raw for me.

Dave Meltzer says he thinks what happened with that Jericho thing was that it took way longer for the crowd to turn on him than he thought it would.

I don't know about that. They started booing basically as soon as he started leaving up the ramp. Seems like exactly what he wanted.

Well there were some boos starting before he started making his way up the ramp, and the idea is that he wasn't going to leave until he started getting some boos. If they had started booing him after thirty seconds, for instance, he probably would have left much sooner.

Oh, he also says the reason they ended the show with Cena/Kane instead of Punk or Jericho is because they have no faith in anyone besides Cena to be in the overrun after two weeks ago when the new title holders were in the overrun and the ratings were awful.

I hope that's not true. Someone here mentioned the poor ratings were probably because of some oddities in Monday Night Football that night.

Ummm, I would guess that the main reason they ended the show with Cena/Kane is because it LEFT A HOLE IN THE RING.

Honestly I suspected those boos at the end might have been piped in because the crowd WASN'T turning on him. You know they at least had the fake boos ready to go in case it didn't go right.

And I'm probably the most harsh to WWE in this topic. "Give this a chance" guys, really.

I don't know about you, but for me, when you put six weeks or so into hyping a specific event, I don't expect that event to be absolutely nothing happening but "wait and see", I expect it to set the stage for future stories, sure, but it's also expected to actually be good TV. Anyone, even Chris Jericho, standing around doing nothing for 10+ minutes is simply not enjoyable to watch. It's the exact same thing as the Undertaker/HHH return segment, and indicative of one of the WWE's main problems - they like to think that they don't need to actually DO anything at all, they can just take their stars and put them in front of the camera and it will be inherently good simply because of the names involved. I mean at least it's kind of nice to know the WWE thinks highly enough of Jericho to put him in the "we don't need him to actually do anything" category but that's not the point <_<

"Chris Jericho returning" on its own isn't anything actually happening (especially not since everyone likely to care to predict returns knew it was him anyway) and that's the entire problem, "look, a big name!" is not inherently amazing and awesome. In the end, it was a guy running around yelling for ten minutes, never saying anything, not advancing any storylines, not establishing anything (if you seriously think they can't go damn near any direction with his character from there you're nuts, him going heel looks most obvious but it's not like that's the only option), six weeks of hype leading up to...another week of hype, except now I'm wondering why I should even tune in because the WWE clearly does not care about delivering on things they hype.

Disagree. Jericho returning most certainly is a thing happening. (also where were you when we had a topic dedicated to the impending return of Brock Lesnar with other people arguing Taker) It established enough- I don't think it's really possible he's face after that. Yes, it left his path and specific character direction pretty open-ended, but I don't necessarily expect his entire life story to be spilled in a single episode of free TV. I generally expect more questions than answers on TV...PPV is where I am more likely to get mad at continued suspense. I certainly wouldn't have minded a thirty minute promo or something, but I am perfectly fine with having a reason to tune in next week.

He couldn't be a face?

Some heel is in the ring cutting a promo. Let's say Wade Barrett. He's doing the typical heel thing, making the crowd boo. Suddenly Jericho's music hits, interrupting Barrett. Jericho comes out and starts crowd pandering, shouting "COME ON! YEAH YEAH YEAH!" Barrett gets annoyed, and challenges Jericho to a match, which Jericho accepts with a fist pump and a "YEAHHHH!"

The entire match Jericho keeps pandering to the crowd whenever he gets the chance, which annoys the hell out of Barrett, making him act over aggressively and make mistakes. Etc etc, I don't know why I even typed this, because Jericho is probably getting cheered next week just by not interrupting anyone even. I don't think next week's crowd is going to immediately boo Jericho just for not doing anything the week prior. He has to actually do something.

How am I not intrigued by the idea of my favourite wrestler of all time returning in a way that managed to be completely uninteresting to watch? Maybe he will be cheered, that's a decent point....but even I have enough faith in WWE that I believe there is a reason behind the fact that he kept doing it for a ridiculous amount of time to the point where it kinda has to be taken as some kind of parody or troll. The detractors seem to be reacting like all he did was pop up on screen for a couple seconds, do a pose, and leave. He did not. He strung the fans along for over ten minutes, past the point of absurdity. That HAS to be significant. WWE.com acknowledged the boos. He continued the act on the exclusive interview. It's significant.
