Sonic the Hedgehog Attempt 1: Green Hill Zone
Okay so everything's fine in Act 1. Even got an extra life in the bonus room! Then Act 2 kicks my ass because I forget about spin dash and there are pits. End up having to use a continue. Get all the way to the boss on my second attempt and lose to it, which is pathetic since it's easy as hell. Game over.
Thoughts: Okay, clearly I'm out of my game since I've beaten this before somehow. I may have to pull out save states more quickly than I thought. >_>

Okay, redemption. Didn't die once that time and even got an extra life in one of the bonus stages. Still got hit too much by the boss probably, but hey, I'll take whatever I can get.

Interesting enough, I was like this as well a few weeks ago...but I only managed to beat Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic 2k6, and then Catherine and Skyward Sword kicked in.

Sonic the Hedgehog Attempt 2: Marble Zone
So yeah, instant death traps in Sonic aren't ever fun, which is why this zone is arguably my least favorite of the Genesis ones. There are so many of them and so many 'cheap' parts. I somehow managed to make it to Act 3 without dying where everything kinda fell apart. Falling into sections you've already gotten past isn't the most fun thing ever. Made it to the boss and ended up failing hard. Game over.
Thoughts: Marble Zone ****ing sucks.

Sonic the Hedgehog Attempt 3: Marble Zone
Got to a special stage in Act 1 and spent like, 20 minutes trying to get the emerald only to fail after getting pretty much everything that blocked it. Apparently the rage from my failure infuriated me enough to give me the strength to not even die once in Marble Zone. Boss didn't even hit me. Proud of myself actually.
Thoughts: Built up 2 continues and 4 lives. Those will probably last me up to the Labyrinth boss before I lose everything >_>

Aw yeah, Spring Yard. Best stage in the game IMO. I've never really had any problems with this when it comes to dying (Though I do get hit a lot.). I made it up to the boss without dying and accidentally jumped into the pit. Whoops! Only one life lost though, so no problem. Also got another continue so awesome!
Thoughts: Okay, probably gonna cheat soon >_>

Fun stage, but also pretty simple. Died at one point due to going into an area with seemingly no escape though. Also finally got a Chaos Emerald, so that's cool.
Thoughts: Should hopefully be able to go without save states here since I cheated in Labyrinth.

Really, it's probably mostly to do with me sucking ass at Sonic, but I don't care too much for the original. I played 2 and 3&K long before this one so I had the pleasures of things like spindash and many different upgrades, and of course a much lighter difficulty. Really though, this isn't a bad game. The gameplay and controls are solid. The music is probably the weakest of the Genesis Sonic's sadly, but Star Light and Marble aren't bad. I'll continue tomorrow.

I've played this level probably close to 100 times. It's not any challenge in the slightest. Made it through both acts with no hits and over 100 rings.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Attempt 1: Chemical Plant Zone
Act 1 went fine. Got through really easily. Then something happened in Act 2. I made it to the halfway point and attempted to get the Chaos Emerald only to fail miserably. Then afterwards I get crushed by blocks, then crushed by a spider somehow (glitch?). I managed to make it to the boss, but accidentally ran into the pit. After that I missed my jump in the pool before the boss and couldn't reach the rising blocks. Ended up scraping by with no rings in the end. Gained 3 lives during that Act only to lose them all plus another >_>

GLITCHES! Literally fell through a floor twice during Act 2. Anyway, managed to go through the stage without having to do the water section, which is always nice. I get hit way too often during this level, which sucks. Down to 2 lives already. >_>

Traps in Marble were hard. But only, like, on the first few tries.
The problem with Sonic 1 is that damn Spring Yard boss. Why do I have so many troubles on that boss. And of course, Labyrinth, but let's not talk about that.

Turning your kids into gamblers. Got crushed once somehow but built my lives back up to 6 by playing slots and finding lives (Got a Jackpot!). The boss ended up taking away all 320 of my rings that I won though which is lame.

Pretty damn boring level honestly. Not challenging at all and not really memorable. The lava rising rooms are nowhere near as cool as the water rising in Chemical Plant because of how slowly it goes. And you can easily get invisibility upgrades to bypass them anyway. Boss is kinda annoying, but you can just jump on the very top and not move to win easily.

You know how I said traps are never fun? Well I lied. Mystic Cave is just so damn awesome. Fell into spike death traps twice on Act 2, and then somehow lost to the boss, which I can honestly never remember doing. Eh. So down to three lives and only one more level to go until the hard stretch.

Man, it's so easy to build up rings only to lose them here. Came close to getting 100 rings twice only to make some stupid mistake. Anyway, made it through without losing or gaining a life. Metropolis probably won't be so kind.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Attempt 1: Metropolis Zone
Holy balls. Lost two lives on Act 1. Managed to make it through the third time, and got an extra life for reaching 100000 points. Got killed once again on Act 2 and then managed to build up 100 rings on my second time and complete it. Got crushed by a piston in Act 3 and ended up having 0 rings in the final stretch before the boss. The mantis thing at the top of the shaft was walking in the opposite direction so I really got lucky there. Gained some rings and took on the boss. Tails actually got in more hits >_>. Somehow didn't use up a continue there, which is great. The rest isn't actually that bad if I remember correctly. Until the final boss that is.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Attempt 1: Wing Fortress Zone
Finally got a game over and had to use a continue. But somehow I only had one continue stored.On my second try I found a way to bypass part of the level and made it through without getting hit until the boss. Got an extra life from the 100 rings and found one in the boss room. 5 lives to take on Robotnik and Metal Sonic. Let's do this!
