There's actually a level-select mode that you can access easily. Just emulate the combo game and do it and play that level.

Sonic Advance Attempt 1 (Sonic):
Neo Green Hill Zone

Pretty typical stage. Not a lot to say really. Pretty short and easy. The boss kinda got on my nerves though.

Secret Base Zone

Pretty cool stage with a nice atmosphere, though overall nothing too special. The boss was fun though

Casino Paradise Zone

A casino level in a Sonic game? Seriously? Yeah, this level isn't really that different from other casino staes other than the exclusion of slots. Not bad though.

Ice Mountain

I really enjoyed this one despite the fact that it threw in water. Ice levels are always fun, so this was nice.

Just beat the Dark Story in SA2, man I have no idea what you're talking about tazzy.
Other than Security Hall and Mad Space (which I got pretty lucky on my 2nd try for both stages), it was just as enjoyable as the Hero Story. In fact, other than the 2 stages I mentioned, I had very little trouble through it. Which is funny since I had a lot of stupid deaths when going through Hero Story.

Also, I haven't really played much of the Sonic Advance games. I think I beat 1 character on Advance 1, got pretty far in Advance 2, and did like 1 stage in Advance 3, and that's it. I should give them another go sometime.

And I just beated Sonic Adventure 2, yeah still just as good as it was 10 years ago, some of you guys are weird.

Not sure where I'd put it in an overall Sonic rankings because I haven't played a lot of the modern ones yet, but definitely the best of the previous gen Sonic games.

Some strange (IMO) opinions in this topic, SA2 is indeed still awesome.

As for the upcoming games... you sure you want to play Heroes and 2006? Really? I'd recommend just skipping to Unleashed, that game is at least half awesome (and half meh (if you know the 'hold grapple button' thing) or terrible (if you don't)) unlike Heroes/2006 which are completely awful.

Oh, and I recommend the 360/PS3 version of Unleashed. Better Day stage design and less obnoxious Werehog levels (due to the level up mechanic) at the expense of annoying medal collecting and Eggmanland.

Tazzy has already played Heroes, so he probably knows how it's like, and every Sonic fan should play 2k6 so they can appreciate all the other 3D Sonic games much much more. >_>

And Heroes was fine for the most part but it got a little tiring going through the same levels four times and the levels themselves can be pretty long. But I liked it more than Adventure 1 and for it being the last game to feature the original voices and being before Shadow started to become a joke of a character.
Which reminds me of something I found strange in SA2 was hearing "Sayonara... Shadow the Hedgehog" full well knowing that it's a Japanese word. It's like the opposite of Japanese Sonic saying random English words.

Sonic Advance Attempt 1 (Sonic):
Angel Island Zone

Cool level. Probably the best in the game! Uses a lot of the same ideas from previous levels, but pulls them off pretty well.

Egg Rocket Zone

Stupid level. Having long timed sections with few checkpoints and lots of cliff traps is just stupid.

Cosmic Angel Zone

The gravity manipulation wasn't used anywhere near as cleverly as in past Sonic games. Other than that, this was a decent level.

X Zone

2 boss fights from other games, and a new easy one. Meh.

Also, am currently playing Advance 2 (beat it once with Sonic; don't know if I'll beat with the rest first, or just do it again to go after the emeralds).

And your Adventure 2 reminds me of the missions I got A (which include ALL of Knux levels!) and the ones still pending (I tried more than 10 times the fourth in City Escape!). Still like the game despite the flaws, and I agree the Hero levels are way better than the Dark ones (only Robotnik's ones are on par). Wonder if one day I purchase Adventure DX or Heroes for either the PC or the GCN.

If you're going by order of release, you've already failed since Sonic CD came before Sonic 3.

Honestly, this was surprisingly fun. Nowhere close to the level of the Genesis ones, but it does a good job at trying to recreate them for the GBA. The length and easiness are the two main problems it has, along with non-Sonic modes being the same exact things with less fun characters to use. The soundtrack kinda sucked too, though Egg Rocket was pretty damn good (Only good part of that level tbqh). Overall, fun game. Probably not worth the $14 I spent on it, but eh.

Leaf Forest

Really cool opening level. Lots of speed and good design. Boss was annoying though

Hot Crater

Expected a lava level and was disappointed. Not bad altogether though. Boss was better, though these feel like they try to focus too much on presentation rather than actul quality.

Music Plant

I feel like I'm getting trolled every time I fall through a rail. Seems almost random as to when it'll work. Pretty boring level, though the boss here was actually a lot of fun.

Ice Paradise

Okay level. Doesn't really do anything cool with the ice theme. The boss was horrible.

Sky Canyon is about to make me blow a gasket so I'll quit for now.
